The LCA kit was designed so that skid can be replaced for less than a tank of gas costs. It was also designed so that an x could be added underneath if needed for your application.

You made that clear when you announced the product.
You build race car stuff. Your not catering to the typical instagram famous overlanders, your here for the guys who like to push the limits and do things out of the norm.
Everyone talks about wanting to daily drive racecars, but they don't want the racecar maintenance. It's one of the reasons I don't recommend 37s to alot of people.

I’m from Asheville and now in East Tennessee so make it 5

No I planned on it cause I don’t want a paper weight on the front of my truck if it doesn’t need it but I’m too lazy make glass caps.. I just trimmed the bumper cap and fastened it with fender washers that I used for my fiberglass and ran a bolt up through the top of the bumper cap to the fiber glass to pull it out to sort of match the extra width of the glass. Hope that makes sense.

Exactly... I always laugh when people want tube chassis trucks and then complain about having to pull the dash and windshield just to get the motor out :)

I think there are valid points on both sides of this but the one thing that occurred to me when i did mine is even if you trash the skid it's super easy to replace. Not sure how much a new one would be from JD but aside from doing that it'd be very easy to make your own just using the old one as a template. It's a super simple plate and the basement bolts on so can be reused

I highly recommend the pivot kit

Edit: never mind, Harry answered.... $50 for a new one?? just buy a few spares lol, screw making your own

The downside for me is every time I'd replace the skid, however frequent that may be, I'd have to pretty much build a new one between adding the front plate/crossmember mount and also make it mate up to my trans skid. I mentioned it earlier but I already modified my existing IFS skid to mate up with my new cross member up front. It's not the end of the world by any means but it's just another thing keeping me from doing it. I really like my current setup so between the cost and labor, I really don't have any desire.

This thread moves too fast to keep up. To answer your question, you're not going to cycle much more than a 12" shock with SOA.

I've tried a 14" on @hoarder23 truck with the Archive relocation and Deaver spring and ended up limiting the shock to roughly 13"? and still have exposed shaft at bump. A SOA with a relocation is okay for a mid-travel truck but doesn't keep up well to spirited driving due to the lack of bump travel.

plasma was a waste of money...the OE lca tabs can be cut off with tin snips or just tap them with a hammer and the welds crack off the frame

Yeah just need droop around here until I get on our wonder interstate system around Birmingham haha. That’s good to know. So 14” if I’m lucky. What about the missing links or Chevy springs @ovrlndkull what’s that do to my daily driving/hauling?
