What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

The three popular ones that I've heard of are the Mountain Hatch, the Snail Armor, and the AL Offroad Trailgate. The mountain hatch is marketed to be used as like a cutting board and so is made of tough plastic. I have heard they dont wear the best because of this. Both of the other ones are powder coated aluminum. I myself have and order for an AL Offroad Trailgate that should be shipping soon and you can even get it with cup holders it that's your thing!

 

Did a thing with my TSS logo. Hopefully the dealership doesn’t say I voided my transmission warranty.

Did you adjust the passenger and drivers side the same or differently?
When I measured my truck height before and after the install I noticed the drivers side rides about 1/2" lower.
I was thinking about going back later and taking some tension out of the passenger side.

 

Installed The TRD skid plate. (Finally) it was laying in my Garage for few weeks already.

 

For my initial install I adjusted the same for both sides. Since I replaced all my shocks last summer with 5100s and added the spacer in the front LS to compensate for the Taco lean I plan on adjusting (if needed) to make sure it sits level from Left to Right. I just wanted everything to settle a bit before final adjustment but then it was winter in Ontario so it didn't happen. This is on my list of things to do shortly now that things are warming up again.

You guys that have had bed mats for a while how have they held up? Pros/cons? Have any moisture issues under the mat?

 

Wasn’t as bad as I thought. Just heated it up with a hair dryer. Used some dip release I had to wipe off the sticky.

 

The OEM mat is thick and stiff, and is extremely tough. Any moisture underneath will drain/vent because the bed ridges allow really good air flow.

 

Nice, thinking about getting one and hauling my dog in the back for the local around town strolls he likes and he would slide all over w/o the mat.

 

I've used bed mats for decades, but didn't get one (for whatever reason) for my 2nd gen Tacoma. Not having one is a pain at times (tie down everything and bed divider was a bigger pain in the butt), but I've been waiting for the right deal to come along. Seeing the bed is composite and I have a tonneau I don't worry about moisture. The tonneau and the bed mat are both easy enough to remove when I don't need them.

 

I have mine since 2015, mainly because the bed fiber is loud and don't seem to durable. Only problem I have is that pollen, dust dirt and leaves finds their way under and plugs the drain holes in the bed and might stain the bed bolts, that's about it. Yeah in heavy rain my bed might not get drained properly, that's the only bad thing I can think of. So far its already in my 4th Taco, With no issues at all, I beat the hell out of it , I ride dirt bikes and camp a lot so it gets abused and that mat still have plenty of life left. I have loaded the truck with pallets of concrete blocks, pavers, sod, Dirt bikes, fire wood, paint you named... still in one piece and 0 chips, lil faded maybe ? that's about it. IMO that's the best purchase that I ever made for the taco.
Bottom line, that mat will last longer than the truck.

 

Nice that's good to know. I do have the tonneau cover as well which is closed unless I need it open. Mat should like you said outlast the truck.

 

No issues at all really, I have a tonneau cover so moisture isn’t a really factor. It’s very durable, I’ve put tons of tools and equipment on top of it. It’s the first truck I’ve had with it on and i love it. I will probably get rid of mine once I get my topper, if anyone in the Austin area is interested. I plan to build out the interior a bit and want to have the ability to slide things in and out again with ease.

Edit: I do occasionally pull it off and clean underneath as leaves, dirt and grime can build up under the mat, but that’s like twice a year and it’s very easy. The edges are the only areas that require a cleaning.

 

I love the OEM TRD skid plate!, mine supposed to arrive in Alberta tomorrow...left Toronto last night...all the way from Texas!...just to save couple hundred dollars!

Just installed emblem overlays ordered from Taco Garage in San Diego. Simple, easy and looks good. Fit perfect though you need to be careful peeling off the double sided tape otherwise it rips in a tight corner and it’s a pain to get off again. That’s user error and not on the part of the vendor. The A doesn’t have a cutout like it shows on the website but it does in the O. I’ve seen others where it’s one solid piece so I liked that little detail with this set.

 

Nice, might consider this for fun. My Truck is cement and would look sick blacked out.
