Is this acceptable???

My 07 tacoma sport DC only has 36,000 miles and i rarely haul anything. My leaf springs already look like this (with no load). Should i see if Toyota would replace them under the extended warranty that i bought?

 

Yes, i would def try. Its only going to get worst.

Hate to break it to you but the extended warranty doesn't cover the leaf springs. Plenty have tried and been denied. But you might as well give it a shot since you are barely out of the factory warranty.

 

Uh, have you jacked up both wheels in your pic? Or is the removed wheel on a jacked up axle? In that case, the side we're looking at is more loaded than the other side!

 

Doesn't hurt to try. It depends on how passionate you are towards the issue. If you cause enough ruckus they may correct the issue in good faith.

The biggest hurdle is the fact that the TSB states that the issue is only covered under the 3yr/36k original warranty. Although your mileage is good you're most likely past the 3 years.

 

Well i picked up a nail in the tire, and just noticed this while i was putting on the spare.

 

Im past the 3 years, but this is the second tacoma my family has bought from the dealership im taking it to, so hopefully they'll just take care of it and say nothing(probably not) but its worth a try

 

I wouldn't worry too much then. You're compressing the right spring, so it's going to look flatter. For a more accurate indicator, measure from the center of the hub to the fender.

But really, getting and adding a 1.5" add-a-leaf is pretty inexpensive and easy -- probably easier than the grief you could go through trying to get your dealer to do anything for you.

 

What is that stuff all over your suspension parts? Is that dried on mud or something?

 

Here in ky we've had some show in the last couple of weeks and its just got nasty from all the mud and road salt they put on around here i hate salt

 

Ahh, so all that will probably blast off with a pressure hose. I have to spend a crap ton of quarters every few weeks at the wash place to blast mud off my frame and stuff.

 

Im getting ready to wash it right now, i have a pressure washer so its no problem

 

im gonna go tighten the lugs on the spare and take it off the jack and see how the leafs look then

Don't feel too bad.
I have less then 30000km's on my 4 leaf pack and already had one side replaced. The leafs just cracked right down the middle.

 

You could take measurements and see if it's in spec:
