Really?? That would definately be a pain in the ass to find. Somebody has an issue! Screwing with someone's vehicle is about the lowest you can go, IMO.
Only thing beyond that would be setting house on fire or family. That's war, leading to death!

I agree, people who mess with other peoples property are scumbags. I would personally rather get punched in the face than have someone key my car.

Couldn't agree more. Those who key cars are wimps who choose to do things when nobody is around. Might lead to a confrontation, that obviously they will lose.

I keep my Truck parked in my garage. So far, so good.
If I ever see someone get caught vandalizing someones vehicle by the owner, and receiving some street justice. I won't interfere.

One thing for sure when using a locking cap, one can rule out an engine problem caused by sand or something being put in the tank . Unless of bad gas from a gas station , it could not have happened . To this day my brother does not know if there was sand put in his tank or the repair shop lied to him when they had to replace all the fuel injectors in a car he had. It cost him a lot .

I'm not sure a locking gas cap is impenetrable, but personally I've never heard of this happening to anyone I know. Saying that, I'm sure it can happen. A scratch with a key along the body is far easier and can send a clearer message, for those A-holes who would think to do that.

All true. If the locking cap was broken to be removed the owner will know and if there is a problem with the car/truck he would have a good idea where to start . For me it's just a cheap way of ruling out one potential problem . My wife hates it though , but I do not like her flowered fuzzy seat belt shoulder protectors either lol.

I live near Chicago and work in the Hood. Until you've seen West Side Junkies in action you might not understand just how bad they can be. The worst is when they damage something and don't even successfully steal anything. I'm getting wheel locks, locking gas cap, spare tire lock, all 3 tailgate locks, and nothing is EVER left in my car when parked on the street.

10 seconds with a flat head and a rubber hammer the cap can be removed. We have done it several times when a dealer buys a car with those caps on.

Sure, but it deters most people. If someone really wants to fuck with you they are gonna do it regardless. It's kind of like locking your car door, house door and closing garage doors. It deters the majority of people. If someone really wants to rob you, youre gonna get robbed.

How many people have rubber hammers and flat heads laying around along with the knowledge on how to do this? As soon as many see the locking Cap they move onto something else or someone else's car. It's all about the discouraging them from trying.

How many with a drill so they can steal your gas? I don't know if they have them laying around or not but if they were out trying to steal gas one might carry these tools. All I was saying is they can be taken off in seconds. The criminals these days are pretty smart, like sawing off your convertors.

Long past since you asked this question but no there is not a screen in the fill neck. Some vehicles have a rollover ball valve that prevents gas from back flowing in the event of a rollover which serves double duty as an anti-siphon deterrent. There’s also no possible way a beer cap will “plug a fuel line” unless it magically could pass through the filter sock on the fuel pump pickup, and then pass through the fuel pump. I don’t know how these bull shit rumors get started, it’s just bad info compiled on top of bad info then passed on by people who have never serviced a car to know any different.

I bought this as well, works great, no CEL's. I did have to open up the hole on my MESO gas cap holder a bit to make it fit however. Nothing a half-round file and 5 minute couldn't accomplish.

I guess my only real complaint is the lock tumbler was initially very rough and hard to push the key into. Nothing a bit of lube and a bunch of back and forth motion couldn't fix. Guess they cut the key really rough.
