I’m just giving you hell. The CrossFit class that happened where we did our lifting I had a lot of friends in. So we participated in the classes some times. They put on the board once to do so many pull ups or whatever and me and my workout buddy were like dang that’s a lot of pull-ups. Then we saw them start doing the kip thing. Like ok, you can do 50 of those, but I know you can’t do 50 regular. So we did them regular in intervals while they all swung like monkeys with a giant band under their feet.

I found myself in a similar situation as you a few years ago. I had just become a born-again mountain biker (7-8 year hiatus). I knew I needed some extra fitness to complement the bike rides. I have never stepped foot in a gym and never plan to. Here's what worked for me:

I discovered "Yoga with Adriene" on youtube. Often imitated, never duplicated...she is the OG of online, free yoga. All you truly need is a 8 x 8' space and a phone/laptop. A yoga mat isn't necessary, but a definite plus. Her classes/series are simple and easy to follow, even for someone that has never done yoga. There's even a whole series that teaches you how to properly do the moves! A month of doing 2-3 classes (20-30 min each) per week and I could see and feel changes in my body. I wouldn't be totally spent after a ride and could more readily do multiple rides a week.

Fast-forward 4 years...I'm a few months shy of 50 and I honestly feel like I'm in the best shape of my life (except for those high school years). It's pretty amazing what some stretching and contorting a few days a week did/does for me along with 2-4 bike rides per week.

Setting up tubeless on this setup was harder than any other setup I’ve had...it is done now. Let’s see how the slick “fat” tires do.

If they needed a band they shouldn’t have been kipping. Sounds like poor coaching.

Adding a kip to any movement should something that is progressive. With the proper approach it is auxiliary, and used in conjunction with static/strict movements (workout intentions dictating the movement).

I’ve trained in numerous types of strength and condition formats, CrossFit included. Never drank the juice for any. Rather I gathered the knowledge and techniques used from all and now program in a way that’s enjoyable and beneficial to me and my goals.

Well I can tell you my experience with kipping is just swinging around on the bar haha. Momentum vs muscle is how I saw it. Even the ones without bands just seemed to swing around. Barely any lateral engagement.

    hence why I mock it.

No riding this Wednesday without classes. I decided 10 inches of fresh powder could not be ignored. Definitely put a test to my clean up work on my wound from yesterday. Only started bleeding a tiny bit.
Also continuing previous talk about my bad knee and snowboarding: I’m slowly building a better endurance to the different type of motion, but my knee does get noticeably swollen each time I go. Might just be how it is for me. A day here and a day there may be the max. As of right now if I went 2 days in a row the second day would be an absolute nightmare.
    TED Talks done now :)

Anybody have some glove recommendations? or are they mostly pretty much the same? I had some Giro's for the past year which were okay but looking to buy some new ones.
