i was thinking same thing, but sliders are a good source of protection, in case i do wana crawl over some rocks im protected. i do plan and making my truck trail safe, not necessarily trail rated lol, i have no shame gettting towed on a trail, or "pulled" to safety, but i do if i break something.

I just bought some bolt on sliders from Avid and they should be here in a few week. I have heard nothing but good stuff about products from them.

Bolt strengths can always be matched with welds until you get into full penetration welds. Although with bolts you have to worry about reduced area of the frame and gussets due to holes. For our trucks tho this is negligable. Bolt ons are great as long as the mounting is sufficient

yeah, and thats kinda what im getting out, whose bolt ons have sufficient hold. didn't wanna go over $400. i know limits my options, but i really wanna know if anyone has a story of bolt ons failing. i think it will be easier to eliminate someone due to failure, its a tough thing to decide....hmmmmmmmmm

I have Shrockworks and the quality is top-notch. Very pleased with these and they are very strong.
Never really noticed them being too short or anything. It wasn't really a problem

    edit above post

The bolt-on slider/steps are an alternative to the step bars. They are designed more for the people that like the looks of sliders but don’t need the super strength of weld ons. There is no drilling or welding required to install them. They simply bolt into the factory running board mounts. Because of the mounting location, these sliders are not intended to support the weight of the truck but can be used as steps, dent protection, and light off-roading. Think of them as step bars that look like sliders.

this may not be enough protection gaurantee for me

yeah i wouls imagine that if they would say that about their own product, i should trust them.doesn't mean all bolt ons are bad, but those would not be appropriate
