Where to get a locking gas cap?

Find one online. It comes with 2 keys. I made a spare and leave it in the truck.

 

Make sure it has a vacuum relief valve

 

Made me curious so I check. Looks good!

 

Isn't it wonderful knowing Amazon would never sell imported counterfeit anything. Manually testing the vacuum relief is easy.

I think all these members advocating that this dangerous locking gas cap will make your vehicle implode are the angry bitches dumping sugar in gas tanks and sucking tanks dry! LOL, y’all wild!

 

I have too when I used these for past vehicles.

 

Besides, if a chick is cray-cray enough to dump sugar in someone's gas tank, don't you think she's going to do something else if she finds the gas cap locked?

How do these people plan on stopping said chick from keying the paint, smashing out the glass with a hammer or doing something else out of a Taylor Swift song?

 

LOL, guess mine just stopped with the sugar. And let me tell you if you ever get that done you will wish all you had to deal with was cosmetic. Fuel system, engine, everything is junk. I have used many locking fuel caps and have never experienced the horrors being tossed around here is all I am saying. Some of you guys act like Toyota is not buying these gas caps from the lowest bidder. A quality company like Stant is a quality product. With fuel prices where they are headed it’s probably not a bad idea just for that alone.

 

You just have to get them in southern Ca!

My 2000 Silverado Z71 used the same locking gas cap as my 13 Tacoma, if that tells you anything. Same part number.

 

Omg this is funny but someone making a threat to sugar my tank was why I put one on a previous vehicle.
I had a woman renting one of my apartments. She started to fall behind on the rent. Then proceeded to have people over that may have been wanted for parole violations. The marshalls came and tried to raid the wrong unit. At that point as her lying and non payment continued I took her to court for Eviction.
She cursed me up and down when the notice came for making her and her kids homeless and swore she would put sugar in my tank. I took no chance I got a locking cap right away. She never actually did anything but leave the place a mess which is to be expected.

So glad I haven't delt with people like that in years.

 

Idk, been slightly over a year since mines been on, and no problems. If you lived in sort of a remote area as i do along with some of the area clowns that like to do neighborhood pranks every once in a great while, you might think having a locking gas cap is not a bad idea. Wasn't long ago before a bunch of tanked up teens kicked in just about every mail box on the road.

 

As far as I can tell, the Stant locking cap doesn't have provision for the OEM tether. Otherwise, I would consider trying it.

Most modern vehicles have anti-siphon devices built into the fuel filler system. The only concerns I would have is somebody drilling my tank to steal gas or somebody pouring something bad into my tank.
