Yea I washed my car yesterday and I am really impressed. No leaking from any of the windows, though the front, back (between the tailgate) and positive pressure vent did leak, which is to be expected. Noticed I made a slight error with the seal, though. Oops.

Pooch seemed uncertain at first. She'd always rode in a hammock in the back seat (still will).

Hey guys - I'm on the very first step and trying to insert the left panel into the roof slots BUT my tolerances are off by a good 1/8".

The panel needs to slide towards the front of the cab before any tab has the clearance to pop in and I'm super hesitant to go banging the metal w/ my mallet.

    Any thoughts?

1st question, are you sure you have the correct panel on the correct side?

Ours was tight wehn we put it together but they did more or less line up correctly. I did use a rubber deadfall hammer to get the sides in. You don't have to hit hard, just tap it until it goes in. Getting the sides in with the foam was pretty frustrating for sure.

Thanks Chuam - yes definitely trying to put the left panel on w/ angled side closest to air vent.

What's throwing me is that the youtube video just says smack the panel towards the roof to insert the tabs BUT my tabs again are each not lining up w/ their holes and the panel needs to first slide the other direction.

That sounds like you have it set up correctly. I'd try to ping or call ORA to see if they have any help. Additional pictures of the issue may help

Found a work around for my situation by putting both left and right on loosely with bolts/washers and tilting assembly up towards forward cab.

Was then able to smack both sides in with the weight off of each. Hand is killing me though.

Mine fit very similarly - looked like the tolerances were off, but eventually was able to work them in. I'll say what worked really well for me was getting the tabs in, then grabbing the front and wiggling the sides to get the slots aligned correctly. This really helped pull the sides into alignment.

If I were to recommend one thing to RSI for assembly, it would probably be just include a bag with all of the rectangular clamp/clip hardware. Having to remove all of those from the front and the back sides was a pain, and it's just gotta eat up time to install them there in the first place on their end.
Fiberglass you can mold, sheet metal you cannot. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that garbage. I think both fiberglass and the RSI look nice in their own ways, but they are definitely different. One is conventional beauty, one is edgy with full sleeves, gauges and pierced nipples. If you don't like one or the other that's fine, and it's also okay to like neither or both.

I will say that functionally, I think the RSI offers more than traditional fiberglass. But if the traditional function of a fiberglass works for you, save a buck and go with that. I know for me, in order to get all of the options I wanted, I was only saving a couple hundred going with fiberglass over RSI, and I would've had to wait an additional 8 weeks (probably more), and I don't think I would be any happier.

I had a similar problem, I was trying to tap with my palm and eventually tapped it in with a hammer through a foam pad and 2x4. It went right in then.

I actually deleted my post because it didn’t really offer anything! Lol

what I was trying to say was I love the look but it looks too small on the Tacoma to me.. like it need to be expanded out a little bit on all sides.. if you look at a picture of it on a Ford it seems to fit better.

maybe they will make a change at some point but it should sit flush at all sides of the bed just like a fiberglass shell imo.

Thanks all - what a f*cking pain in the a** to put together ;)

And definitely not for those w/ weak backs from all the bending over to pull those plastic tabs and thread back on.

Can't wait to install - now I need to find some peeps near me for help!
