Saw this in a McDonald’s yesterday; Last time I checked it was a fast food place and not a top secret military installation!

I think it has something to do with YouTube videos that portray McDonald's in a negative light; A lot of drive-thru windows I've been through have "No filming" policies and I think it has something to do with the "fire in the hole" pranks (Look it up :D)...

I asked about it at another McDonald's that had the sign, and the employees didn't seem to know what it was about...

    Better description...

This happened while I was delivering a DoorDash order yesterday at like 5pm; There is a one-lane covered bridge in New Britain Township, and when I got to this bridge there was a long line of cars with a Ford F150 at the front of the line just sitting at a stop sign. It was pouring rain and there were floods everywhere, so I was thinking that maybe the bridge was washed out. I sat there for a bit, beeped my horn in frustration, and then other people started making U-turns and turning around, so I got out of the truck to take a look. More people started beeping, and I walked up to the F150 at the stop sign; The woman in the F150 had no idea what was going on, but from the stop sign I could see a late model gray Ram 1500 pickup that had come from our side of the bridge, stopped and at an odd angle. Blocking the path of the Ram was an older model (2003-2005ish) beige Honda Pilot that had come from the opposite side of the bridge and was positioned directly in the middle of the road so nobody who wasn't on a motorcycle or scooter could get through. From where I was standing, it appeared that the Ram and the Pilot had been in an extremely minor head-on collision, or perhaps that the driver of the Ram had a medical emergency of some sort and the driver of the Pilot had positioned their vehicle to keep the truck from rolling into the river or oncoming traffic.

At this point, several minutes had gone by, so I walked up to the vehicles to see what the hell was going on; Nobody else had gone over to investigate at this point, which surprised me; Some people had gotten impatient and turned around, and those that hadn't were beeping their horns every so often...

I walked up to the Ram, and the woman driving it told me that the woman in the beige Pilot thought she had the right of way and was refusing to move unless she (the owner of the Ram) backed up and let her go first. The bridge was not big enough for two Mini Coopers, let alone a full-size pickup truck and a midsize SUV, so one would have to back up for the other to get by. The woman in the Ram did not feel comfortable backing up in the bridge; I talked to the woman in the Pilot, who was easily in her sixties, and her side was that the woman in the Ram had basically jumped the cue and gone when the woman in the Pilot had the right of way. The woman in the Ram made it all the way to the end of the bridge when the woman in the Pilot split lanes and positioned her SUV to keep the Ram from passing. My response to this was something along the lines of "Are you two fucking serious?!?!"

The woman in the Pilot absolutely refused to move; When I told both women that I had a DoorDash order to deliver, the bitch in the Pilot said she didn't care, and the one in the Ram apologized and stated that she'd called the police (The woman in the Ram was by far the friendlier and more reasonable on). I threw up my hands in frustration and walked back to my truck, telling the other people who were waiting that it was road rage over who had the right of way. People were understandably pissed, and the woman in the F150 at the front of the line was about to call the police herself. I got back in my truck and called the customer this Mexican food was going to; I explained the situation, which he found rather amusing, and asked him if he knew where the Pine Run Bridge was. He said he did (he was like half a mile away), and I asked him if he knew another way; He said I'd have to turn around and go the other way...

    :annoyed:

It was about this time that I saw red and blue lights approaching quickly on the other side of the bridge; This particular incident is second only to the time back in October 2015 when I got hit by a drunk driver that I've never been happier to see a cop!

I told the customer that the police had just arrived and I was gonna try and get through; The cop got out of his SUV (I think was Central Bucks Regional, but I'm not sure) and started talking to both women. I drove around the line of cars (everyone in line knew I was delivering DoorDash so this was met with no protest) and watched as the cop got the woman in the Pilot to move almost immediately. At this point I drove onto the bridge, got out of the truck and said "Excuse me officer, I'm delivering DoorDash and I'm late." The cop told me to wait a minute, said something to the woman in the Ram, and the woman in the Ram was allowed to continue on her way. I followed behind the Ram and shouted "Thank you, officer!" out the window, to which he responded "Not a problem..."

The woman in the Pilot who'd caused the whole thing did not immediately leave, and I don't know if she got a ticket, but I'm guessing that at a bare minimum the cop gave her a stern lecture!

I got an order for $9.75 this morning from a place in Hatfield called the Five Star Diner; It did not fit my stereotypical idea of a diner, as it was in a shopping center rather than a freestanding building, and the interior space was smaller than that of a typical Starbucks. On top of that, the place was rather outdated and run down. I went inside and asked for the DoorDash order for so-and-so, and one of the Indian women behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy then started talking to her coworker (also an Indian woman) in their native language. This women then told me that they “didn’t do DoorDash anymore” (there were still GrubHub signs out front) and seemed utterly perplexed as to why the order had gone through. I used the bathroom and then went outside to contact the customer; The woman who’d ordered the food was also confused, since the app had told her that the diner was preparing the order. This was an independent restaurant, and the vibe I got from the two women was that they had ended their partnership with DoorDash due to a dislike of the app’s business practices.

I am still utterly amazed by the number of restaurant owners who still think that drivers are employed directly by DoorDash and thus have any say in how they do business (PA Soup and Seafood in Doylestown is a prime example of this; Luckily, they have cut ties with DoorDash and I haven’t picked up an order from them since 2019)...

And let’s not forget the restaurant owner who got mad at me because “DoorDash drivers are taking money from his delivery drivers” and went on an unprovoked rant...

Really, moron? Then why did you sign up to do business with DoorDash? By the way, this was also back in 2019 before COVID was a thing, so restaurants weren’t anywhere near as dependent on delivery service as they are now.

And DoorDash seems to have gotten the message that I absolutely REFUSE to pick up from Walmart, CVS, or Walgreen’s...

I refuse to pick up from CVS or Walgreen’s because I am expected to shop for the items on the list, wait in line, and pay for them with the dreaded Red Card (since I started doing DoorDash again in January 2021 after almost a year of hiatus due to COVID use of the Red Card has been drastically reduced, also likely due to COVID, to minimize interactions between people). So you expect me do someone’s shopping, potentially get the wrong item, and then wait in line to buy the stuff? On top of that, you expect me to go into a pharmacy where there are likely to be lots of sick people, during a pandemic? Yeah, no...

    :brianr:

I also know that because I mentioned this, my first order when I go on my evening run will likely be at the Walgreen’s about a mile from my house, and I will have to decline the order, and my acceptance rate will suffer...

    :annoyed:
