Bilstein 6112

I've heard some people going with the 8100 in the rear for more travel and extra adjustment. I'll do some digging and find the build thread in the AM. It may be my ocd but I think I'd prefer to stay with the same company front to rear!

Look through the @oscolivar1 thread. At one point in time, he was running 6112's in the front and 8100's in the rear. From what I remember it was very pleased and only upgraded the front's because he wanted additional adjustability. Either way, he has a fantastic build and could be a great resource on the route you're planning!

5160s if your rear end is stock weight and like the look of a resi. I tell people to save money and just buy the b110 5100 extended for the travel you're looking for. if you want a comfy ride and heavy in the rear 8100 or anything equivalent from other brands.

Bilstein really needs to make a 6000 series for the rear to accommodate the 6112s better as far as Valving.

 

So, I didn’t mind the option 3 but I did decide to lower it a little bit so I went down to 2 last week. I like option 2, and might lower the front later depending on how much sag there is after I have a full load. I mainly just have the GFC which is 300~ pounds then when I camp I have normal gear and tow a drift boat which isn’t too heavy. Here is a pic of option 2 on 5/6 with 265-70-17

Yeah agree. Considering the 5125 as I’m about 24.25” in the rear or maybe even even the b110s if I pull the trigger on a new leaf pack (also trying to figure between the Dakar’s MD or all pros). Thank you for the input.

 

5125 are da bomb. Pair very well with the 6112's. Slightly more droop than 5160. Half the price.

 

I would stir clear of the B110's if you are going with the Dakar MD or all pros. They will eventually sag under the weight of your truck and the B110's length will be in danger of bottoming out. I would suggest to go with the Icon RXT's or maybe wait to invest in some deavers. Take it from me firsthand. I first started off with Dakar Med's then after a year moved up to Dakar Heavy's, and now I am sooooooo sick of the Dakars in general because they really are crap. I have a number of buddies that have the Icon's and the deavers and NEVER once had a problem. the good thing about the Icon's as well is that you can put them into any stage that you want due to the fact that they are modular. I do agree with @Superdave1.0 , the 5160's ride really nice on my truck but for the money, I would have gone with the 5125's.

 

Great info thank you! My buddy who has a tundra is telling me to go Deavers too. What weight did you have in the rear and did they just sag due to the weight of the truck??? I don’t plan of having much weight. Doing a high clearance bumper, custom swing out that replaced the tailgate, and two spares.

 

Keep in mind, when I say "invest in deavers" that is just what it is. A huge investment. Most people that go with Deavers already know the layout of the truck that they want/are going to build and stay with. Icon's are a little more economical and you can play around with the lift and settings depending upon what you do with your truck in the future. Also, no matter what you go with, please please please do yourself a favor now and upgrade your rear break lines to +4 inch ones. you will thank me later. I got mine from Wheelers and there really is no downside.

 

Installing 6112/5160 for a TW member. It's a shame they are not readily in stock.

Excellent info, been researching on here so much for new suspension and I keep going back and forth on certain things. Right now I’m on 5100s and I want to upgrade the suspension to something that is not over kill which is why I am leaning towards the 6112s. For the rear I’m still on the fence with what to go with and now with a new leaf pack also. I’m at 24” up front and 24.5” in the rear with no real weight in back aside from my custom “swing gate” and two spares. I’ll be adding a high clearance bumper, front bumper, and sliders at some point. And who know maybe I’ll add more weight to the rear later on which is why I want to make sure I’m doing something worth it or “investing” in something I will love and use.

 

I think Bilstein was busy manufacturing all the Toyota TRD kits that the dealers are making huge margins on and put the 6112/5150 on hold.

 

I'm running 6/6 with 1/4 spacer on driver side. been running it for past 4 years. still good no leaks, loving it.

Looks like they might be coming back. My friend just picked up 6112/5160 from 4wheelparts. Was ready for pick up next day.
