Can we make the red pieces on the side, blue?

 

There are vinyl kits on Etsy in different colours. Otherwise removing them and painting with a spray can would be more permanent. I'm going to paint mine one it gets warmer out.

 

Just wondering if the pictures are an accurate representation? It appears that there is a noticeable lighting hotspot on the "R" in TRD. I know that sometimes pictures can give a bit of a false appearance when it comes to lighting which is why I'm asking. I'm interested but also a bit picky about details so wanted to check about that. Didn't notice a light diffuser being used but I suspect it's an extremely tight area you are working in.

 

The pictures were taken on my bench using an AC >>> 12V adapter so they may seem a bit over exposed due to poor lighting compared to the real world application in your vehicle.
I use diffused LEDs which have about a 40 degree diffusion pattern but this is not maximized because of the tight spot the LED is located and the closeness the opaque TRD clip-in once re-assembled.
The blue and red LED pics are actual installs while the white and green are just an dis-assembled "test" example. I still have to test a few different resistor values still to get the best output without creating a noticeable hot spot in the middle.

 

To all those who have purchased my wire harnesses and complete shift knob kits already, I am going to do some experimenting to possibly widen the diffusion angle of the LED due to a concern that "Up2NoGood" had mentioned. If successful I will post a conclusion and revise my installation instructions accordingly.

 

Another way to get even more diffusion is to point the led away from your lens, it will still illuminate but without the hotspot.

Looks great!!! Just an observation, does shift boot not lock into the shift knob or did you just snap a photo after install?

 

It does snap into place like normal. I’m just an idiot and forgot to do it before taking the picture. And I was too lazy to go out and retake the picture. Haha.

 

That’s what I suspected. So excited about the new mod, snap a photo right after completion. I probably do that more times than not.

Fyi, to all that have purchased the DIY wire harness, I have modified the install instructions with the assistance of @mwrood so watch for the upload to your separate conversations.

 

So what all would I need to convert my existing pro knob with a 1x color? As plug and play as possible. And what would the price be? What would the price be for a 2x?

 

I’m in Texas. I think I got mine 6 or 7 days after it shipped. Quicker than I expected to be honest.

 

The wire harness is PnP, I have built it with blade connectors and supply "T" taps. You can connect to the accessory circuit or others have connected to the illumination circuit. I provide detailed instructions for the install to connect to the accessory circuit.
