Dude think of the possibilities. We could mount a gnar gyro cam on a boom and get some great chase scene footage at the races! Or mount a crap load of weights on the back end and build a wheelie machine that shoots flames out the hood or something, either way I'd get $1600 worth of entertainment out of it. Go halvsies? lol

big whoops out in lucerne and the rear isn't built to keep up with the front. I got a built up stress crack at the spring perch cuz the stock ones are junk and I'm sure the U-bolts were wearing out. Crack spread to it eventually breaking the entire housing. My buddy and I decided to do the entire course A. It made it all the way around the course and broke around dry soggy lake.

There's a couple trussed nines on rdc for around $1500

Is a fully trussed 9" a bit of an overkill for a mess around 5lug 2.4L though? You think I could get away with getting a toyota 8" and welding on a truss? My current axle is only a 7.5". It's prolly not smart to do another 7.5 if I trussed it. The third it 4.56 and Detroit locker. Alex what size diff are you running on your long travel 5 lug?

I don't think it's overkill if you run hard. The 8 inch toyota really isn't any stronger than what you have. You could get a trussed 8" housing from ruffstuff but the gears would still be weak. You can make them last if you are easy on them (when you're in the air get off the gas) but the service life is still pretty short for what we do.
