Haha, be thankful that didn't blame your aftermarket bumper on the AC failing lol. Sweet your getting a whole new AC though.

Cedar Fever is coming to Austin any day now. You can see it in the air.

I got one about a week ago. Install was straight forward and easy. Doesn't drone. Not too loud while accelerating and only has a slight growl if you are looking for the noise. I haven't noticed a great amount of increase in acceleration but it did help somewhat since I put 275/70/17s on the truck. Looks way better under the hood now without that bulky air box that came from Toyota.

One thing I did notice, though, which differed from my corolla and 2nd gen tacomas, is once I turned on the truck after the install, it didn't immediately turn itself off. However, the instructions say to keep the truck running for 3minutes after install. The technology in the 3rd gens must be different than the prior vehicles I have had.

Do you remember what you sequence you used to plug everything in? I just installed the Car Solutions interface and ordered the Beat Sonic interface this morning. It looks like they rely on some of the same connectors.

Bulky airbox as in the intake baffle? yea the truck needs to figure out why the increase in air flow. Im not looking to get any HP out of it just like the sleek look along with the smooth air flow. Im friends with a lot of car tuners so ill most likely have them tune it up for me as well. just to get as much efficiency as possible.

its plastic so the paint doesn’t chip...metal on the other hand will chip off. Don’t need to clear coat the edges, just put door edge trim on the cut to cover it

I discovered a Rona paint stick drops in nicely, just have to cut off 4 inches or so. Will tape or glue it in there.

you guessed it :) The pic is in my friend's semi. I like the silicone idea. A Rona paint stick fits nicely. Cinch trip.jpg

This was my first time using a dremel. It was fairly easy. I suggest leaning your arm on the bumper and holding with two hands to keep it stable. (The blades like to travel) Cut slow, and don’t bother trying to make the curved cut; just cut the angle then use the sanding wheel attachment to make the curved cuts. You’ll be amazed how that attachment fixes any uneven cuts. Good luck!

Has anyone used a hot knife attachment on a soldering gun to score or cut the plastic bumper?

That seems like it would make a cleaner cut. I’d like to know if anyone has tried this method, too.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I see a lot of suggestions telling you to glue something in the track. That would be my last option. I would try wedge some edge trim in or some clear silicone. The silicone will dry like glue, but you peel it out if need be.
