    This and that...
We did this trip and followed proper protocol. Didn’t haul out any burnt pieces or anything. But definitely didn’t want to leave any more of a trace than we already did. Had amazing campfires the whole trip. Did come back smelling of llamas and smoke. And yes we got real close to those llamas.

What's wrong with ash or even chunks of burnt wood?
I'm all for responsible camping and not trashing anything but curious about your take on that.

I love finding wood in fire pits. Nothing burns better than already burned wood.

Unfortunately, if you're planning on camping in Forest Service land that won't be of any help if there's a FS stage 1 fire ban in the district. Can't have any open wood burning outside of developed campsites with a FS installed fire ring during stage 1 bans.

never thought about renting one but I should surface it. my grandpa likes renting horses for Elk season if he can make it out.

Last time I was pretty fucking hammered when I stumbled out of the tent and was face to face with the horse who had somehow gotten loose. That was a surprise for both of us

Lol I still need to put in for elk this year. Not sure what areas to apply for.

Last year I hunted Area 44 out by Eagle. I didn't get an elk but got to hang out with my dad during the pandemic. He lives up in Wyoming.

stupid rental horse. I don't blame it for being pissy when it's getting picked up by a bunch of strangers, hauled to BFE, and asked to hike a bunch... but also dealing a temper-mental horse is not exactly fun.horse elk camp.jpg

Area 20? That is a lot closer than Eagle for me.

Lol I bet. I've only lived here since 2018 but it seems hard to figure out where to go.
