They only got access to a pre-production model so they couldn't drive it, and this is mainly a feature review of the Pro4X model.

If nothing else it looks much improved over Nissan's dated current model.

I hope TFL simply misspoke rather than being informed of a schedule slip :)

Ah no it’s a Nissan and will always be a Nissan as where a Tacoma is well a Toyota and we all know who makes better vehicles. Of course this is just my opinion along with all the other people who buy Toyota over Nissan.

Lease the Nissan. Buy the Toyota. Get more bells and whistles for less $/mo in the Nissan but don’t keep it around too long.

i could be wrong though. It could prove to be a super tough truck and just as reliable as the Tacoma. But it will be 4-8 years from now until we know that and the odds seam stacked against it.

I think I’m the only person that doesn’t like it at all. It looks too much like a Tacoma, which I might as well buy a Tacoma instead of a truck that is “like a Tacoma”. In the mid size segment I only like the Tacoma and the Ranger. I don’t even like the Gladiator.

Great original engineering from Nissan. Anyone know how they got the TRD Off-road wheels to fit their truck?

Looks like they copied the Tacoma in its entirety.

I'll be curious to see what the numbers say then. I'm almost 13 years and 160,000 miles in to a frontier and its been boringly reliable. A few warranty things out of the gate, but nothing that had it at the shop for more than a day. So I know Nissan could build a solid vehicle in 2007, better than what we see floating around here sometimes, but we'll see how they're doing now I guess.

Colorado is a good truck except pukey interior. Ranger has a 1990s ford taurus front end. Tacoma paint falls off the cab brake light leaks. Pick your poison.

Personally, I think the grille should extend a little lower. Otherwise I think they nailed it.

I laughed at the part where he couldn't show under the hood considering it has the same powerplant that is currently available in the Frontier since 2020. Although, maybe they have some sensors and other equipment under there. Who knows?

This is a Tacoma forum so of course, mostly everyone’s opinion will be biased towards the Tacoma but I honestly think it has potential. I like it. Haven’t driven it yet, but the exterior looks nice (at least the Pro-4X model) and the interior honestly looks like it has a more premium feel unlike the Tacoma where most models have cloth seats, and a 95% plastic and 5% rubber interior. Again, it’s to early to tell how it’ll be on and off road so for now, my vote for performance goes towards the Tacoma.

Look closely and the front end is identical to a Silverado Z71 LT.

From the day they revealed the new Frontier I could see GMC Canyon crossed with a Tacoma.

Other than the wheels, I don’t see any Tacoma resemblance. The wheels on the 2021 Raptor also look like TRD OR Tacoma wheels.

Lower price than a Tacoma with more features and actually comfortable seats? Sounds good to me
