Definitely backtrack your install and re-verify. Unfortunately, I can't assist since I haven't started my install yet. GL

Good breakdown! This will definitely help others in making the install easier.

    Use velcro vs bolts.

Ordered and received my kit. The front camera that comes with the kit has to be mounted in the upside position for the correct image orientation on the screen. I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport with the stock chrome front grill. Has anyone mounted their camera to the stock grill? If so, how did you do it and can you post some pics? The only way I can figure out for mounting with an unobstructed view and center alignment requires cutting away part of the grill and I really don't want to do that.

Mine arrived today - I guess the no email confirmation surprised me. Very quick shipping though

Good question. Let us know if you found a spot. I'm hoping to install this weekend. YouTube time.

I have a spot just below the Toyota logo but in order to mount it I'm going to have to cut away some of the grill. Then I'm going to have to epoxy or Gorilla Glue some kind of make shift shelf inside the grill at the bottom of the logo that I can drill a hole through in order to mount it. That looks like the only way that I can mount it flush with the grill and in a center position. I really don't want to do that if I can help it.

    For my 19 TRD-OR
This is how I mounted mine.
    Bought the kit for
Anytime Backup and Front Camera Kit (2014 to 2019) with premium camera.
Also picked up the following from yota led
    upload_2021-3-26_10-29-32.jpg

    https://www.yotaleds.com/collections/tacoma/products/tacoma-3rd-gen-sport-grille-bracket
They have a few other options available.

Problem I ran into was the bolt on the camera was not long enough to use the washer and the nut, so I was out of luck in mounting it even with this bracket.

After digging through the garage I came across one of these laying in the tool box. I think they are 1/4 20 but not sure.
    upload_2021-3-26_10-32-15.jpg

This is working as the washer and the nut to hold the camera in place, the knurls are also helping to keep it locked in place against the grill.
Without this I would still be trying to figure out how to mount the camera.

    upload_2021-3-26_10-33-35.jpg

Finished product, I did have to use one of the spacers to bump the cameras objective out a bit so it doesn't show the top of the yota emblem for half the screen.

So you mounted above the logo? I was shooting for the space just below because I got the standard camera and it has to be mounted with the screw up for the correct on screen orientation. How far does it stick out? I don't want to have to cut my grill but I also don't want the camera to stick out to where it could be knocked off. Nice forward view you have there, though.

And my grill has rectangles. Your camera looks different than mine too. I have this one and it has to be mounted like this.

    Yes mounted above the logo.
I think you are stuck drilling and mounting below the logo with the stndard camera.
The other camera mounted horizontally does not stick out very far, and I imagine that mounted below the logo it would not stick out very far. But that area is pretty tight.
Here is the profile of how my camera is mounted.

I am fairly certain that these camera can be mounted the other way, but there is a wire you have to cut that will flip the orientation. If you still have the docs that came with it, I’d look in there to confirm which wire.

Weird. Maybe the premium camera has that feature? I know I read about it somewhere... could swear it was a blue wire even. That or my dreams or getting really weird. lol

Edit: I found the instructions: it is a premium camera feature. I didn't realize it was only the premium camera though.

Yep. Premium camera only. I think it's a purple wire that's not even on my camera. Apparently, unfortunately, my only choices are to buy a cheap logo mounted camera from China that doesn't look very rugged and wait for it to get here, bite the bullet and just cut my grill to mount the one I have or just send it back and forget the whole thing. I'm pretty bummed.

This is what I did for my off road grill. Don't mind the mud, forgot to take a finished pic and I was out playing in the woods yesterday.

It's not as clean as I had hoped, but you cannot tell after it's put back together.

I also could not get the image on the screen perfectly centered. I drilled more to move it around but never did get it perfect. Ended up using some washers because the extra drilling made the hole a bit big. Those are not shown.

Aw dang just missed this. I'll have to remember to look outside of the group buys forum for other group buys offerings. Maybe next time.

That looks like a good idea for mounting. I'll have to see how well that might work for me.
