Anyone else running 255/80 R17 on a 8.5 wide wheel. I'm trying to find out how low have they ran their tires offroad and have they had any issues blowing a bead.

The SCR SR8s in 17in are 8.5 wide.

I haven't aired down yet, but will be soon with fishing season gets here and I'm hitting the beach every day.

I don't anticipate issues. I usually only go down to 20 on sand, but since this is a skinnier tire than my 265s, I may need to go lower.

These tires aren't suppose to be phenomenal in deep soft sand, but they have a great sidewall so airing down should produce a nice foot print on sand.

There are quite a few good options but every one is load range C, which was a turn off to me. They’re lighter and you will keep more of your power but puncture resistance is a huge deal to me.

255/80r17 is a skinnier 33. If your not offroading, you shouldn't need to do a CMC. You may need to trim some plastic and remove your mud flaps.

The only other tire I considered is the BFG MTs. I just put these on my 8.5" wide Method Double Standards. Haven't aired them down yet though.

For 33” get 255/80, much fewer options and all are load E, 255/75 is a 32”

If I end up going 32 I’ll probably go 275/70

What tire pressure is everyone running on the 255s? I'm running 36/34 ride seems a little rought but I get good wear and gas mileage.

I've gotten the tires down to 20 with no issues. Haven't really needed to go lower on my beach. The tires actually perform great in the deep ruts, even with them being a "skinny".

I've been down to 14 on sand with no issues. Now, I don't go bouncing off rocks or put excess pressure on the bead or anything. I usually stay around 18-20 and have never been stuck in sand. Well, there was that one time with the sink hole...
