I don’t have the problem with my fridge and lights on etc. just under hard brake. It’s weird.

Has anyone had issues on 16/17 trucks? Or is it just 18+ that seem to be having issues?

Only issue I am having on my 17 is it seems under 20° it doesn’t like to start sounds like a dead battery would
I see hard voltage drop to 10v as it tries to start. Above 20° no problem. Still doing some testing but really it’s only in the mornings so I get one test a day

No issue on my 2016 been running AGM settings from August last year on Northstar group31. I get float readings 14.3 to 14.5

    What ECU IDS?

We are working on adding in some more alternator controls but folks if you have issues we NEED ALL THE DETAILS please
    1. ECU IDs
    2. What tables changed
    3. Parameters they where changed to.
    etc

We want to make sure we have everything you guys need for as much alternator control as possible.

I have a 2018 04A71 manual transmission truck with a Northstar 27F AGM battery. I'm on the highest octane SuperFOB 2.0 tune.

I added 20% to all the numbers and at the time I measured 14.01 V at idle across the battery terminals. I thought that would go up when driving so I left it there.

I since installed a Neutrino electrical distribution controller that allows me to see the battery voltage all the time while driving. It is reporting a pretty steady 13.7 Volts.

I think I'm a little low, I'd like to be around 14.3 V when driving.

    Thoughts?

Which tables did you modify and what values did you use?

This is how mine is set, 2018 truck phase duty 1 will be 14.7. Otherwise these same settings should work.

I think you might be onto something. Any info you know or can point me to on tuning the idle up in vftuner?

I just bumped it up by 20 and tested made 0 difference. With all electrical loads on it drops below 13.0v still and get check charging system error.

any settings for alternator voltage at idle would help me figure this out. Unless the alternator just can’t put out the power. Check my video above to see what issue I’m having. Still searching for a fix.

I’m on 04b33 my settings adjusted are a few pages back and a video of the issue. Voltage drops at idle in drive with loads on.

I believe there’s a few idle control tables. I’d have to look to see exactly what they are called. I know @tonered adjusted a couple of them

if I remember right, some tunes were adjusted from factory defaults (like to 650 from 800 or something)

Anyone have some good settings for a dual 27F X2 setup?

The exact names are in the Perf and Tuning forum thread. I initially tried 900rpm and 800 now. It still idles at about 1,050 when cold. Big time improvement and no getting yanked along too quickly when rolling.

Thanks, I thought I had made my settings the same as yours when you so kindly provided them to me in our conversation.

I am locked out of VFTuner right now. Waiting for OV to get back to me regarding an issue I have where I reinstalled the program too many times. My system administrator keeps wiping out the setting to overlook VFTuner, so the virus software keeps deleting it.

Any chance you can direct me to the tables you adjusted to bump the idle up Tonered? I think that’s what I’m gonna end up having to do to fix this voltage drop.

Edit: I read the performance and tuning op, isn’t that improving tip in/accel but not necessarily idle?

Is there agreed upon setting for strictly base duty that enables the AGM's to hit float more effectively? Seems like @BortisYeltzen 's solution has been backed up by data the most. Are you still running these values in green Boris?

    Appreciate everyone's help as always

I’m running those still. They are on the low end for charge. Usually between 14.3 and 14.5 because I’d rather be under than over. My 2017 has no issues with voltage dropping below 13 at idle or during decel. Haven’t tried it on 2018+.

Same here. I just have my max set at 94 so it will never go above 14.5 ish

so I just went through and flashed about 6 times playing with every idle map. My settled idle is unchanged with every adjustment.

I started with the idle 3D test map, then
Moved to idle cold start target idle drive
Warm, hot, bumped each value up by 100, bumped the 3D test map up a few more times. Nothing I’ve done changes my idle at all. It idles around 900-1100rpm in D at start for about 15 seconds then settles in drive at 560rpm.

If I can get it up to 650 I’m pretty sure this voltage drop will go away as it’s around that in park after it settles.
