While that sounds nice, it isn't realistic. You never know when the dip will be or by how much. You also run the risk of missing a huge spike. Just put that money into companies whose mission you believe in, or look at mutual funds and ETFs.

My general rule of thumb is to look at the company as a whole and the stock. Do I utilize the company for products/services? Are they "good corporate citizens?"
Does it pay a dividend? If not, there better be a darn good reason to invest. If that dividend is over 5%, why is it that high? Many companies will attract buyers at high dividends because they are struggling for cash (not a good sign).
While past performance is no guarantee of future performance, zoom out on the price chart and see if it has a history of increasing. If not, there better be a darn good reason to invest.

I have a few other "rules" that I try to stick to. The ones where I don't stick to those rules are the ones that I (typically) regret.

If you don't particularly care to do the research on a particular company, look into Mutual Funds and ETFs. They will pick a bunch of different companies based on certain criteria that they (people who are paid to analyze that sort of thing) think will outperform the market. If one company tanks, your portfolio doesn't tank with it.

Well I reloaded more into Fidelity to snag some on the morning dip, if there is one today

 

I hope there is not. I want to be green again so I can get off this roller coaster. I've decided that I like gravity and don't care to go to the moon.

Awww shucks! Well it's not for everyone. I'd keep at least 1 share on the chance that it does moon, but that's just me.

These peaks and valleys of this roller coaster have left me with the inability to feel when I see giant percentage gains or losses. Good luck!!

 

Fidelity users - I just went to update my app and realized they have 3 different apps. Which one does everyone use? I had been using “NetBenefits” but now see they have “Fidelity Investments” and “Fidelity Spire”

 

This has been my feeling for about a month now..
Watching the market dip every time $GME goes up...
It would be glorious to exit $GME on the tail end of the mother of all squeezes with cash in hand to buy up the destruction...It seems too perfect...
BUT....
Walking around work people have noticed their 401K tanking...I hear them say "What happened to the 401K's...they were doing great..."
There's a lot of $$$ disappearing...

 

So I just use the standard Fidelity App. Fidelity Spire has a really nice interface though.

 

Oh, and all this means is you're buying shares at a DISCOUNT...their price is artificially reduced due to market manipulation...It's the opposite of having a friend at an auction bid up your items...Well normally after 2 or 3 bluff bids they stop and let the rest take over....
Well citadel had their paddle up last for the highest bid and is praying that somehow someone bids higher...but the apes keep paddles down...

I just downloaded the fidelity investment app. I had been using NetBenefits as initially my fidelity account was only a 401k. I don’t know which app I like better yet but I did just add 3 shares of $GME now that my bank account is linked Ive got a nice even number of double digit shares now. I’m all set for the ride

GME just doesn't fit within my "rule" structure. I bought and it tanked. I know it can go up and it seems to mostly be trading on emotion. I don't like trading on emotion...that's when things go sidewayz. I may keep a share just for the casino fun.

I just use the regular one. I had to open it to see "Fidelity Investments" so I'm guessing that is the one.

My only complaint about the app is that it does not show you overall percentage gain/loss. You have to log into the web to see that basic information.
