    Subjective...

    • More control over the vehicle
    • More attention required for driving = more focused on the task of driving/less distracted
    • Less gear searching
    • Anti-theft (in regards to people being able to take advantage of the push to start, not the driving knowledge, although also that)
    • Fewer people asking to borrow your vehicle
    • Fewer electronics controlling the vehicle
    • More interactive/engaging driving experience
    • Can rev match while downshifting to make engine braking a smoother experience
    • DFCO (this may not be unique to manuals - I don't see any reason it could not be implemented on autos but never hear it referenced)
    Objective.

Turns out, the question of "which one is better" is subjective and comes down to a matter of opinion. It's really not that difficult of a concept to grasp.

    Okay sure, why?

As for your second statement, totally agree. I definitely agree everyone should at least learn how to drive a manual, just to have that skill set. Though that would act against all these people who are buying a manual for the "Anti-theft properties," which I think is a silly reason cause anyone with a riced out civic can steal your truck regardless of the drivetrain if they want to.

Ok gotta get some work done this morning. Hope I didn’t piss off anyone I just thought some different replies might mix up the normal boring shit that gets posted over and over. Also what fun is a one sided debate and nobody that has an auto really speaks up probably cause they know they are trash lol kidding guys just kidding they are great even though I would never be caught owning one. I don’t even like riding in them lol. Have a good Friday fellow manual dudes. But before I go what kind of oil and filter should I get? 2095869B-12C3-431D-AB6C-896604E4734E.jpg

My 07, 4.0 Rangers Reverse was the same way, so was my buddies Frontier Nismo. Never understood that.

2WD LOW mod solves that issue completely though.

My first Tacoma was an auto, then I picked up my 19 which is a manual and my first one. Besides not being as smooth yet I get a lot of enjoyment out of it and to me it makes driving more enjoyable.

Half of me probably can't even drive one... You might be right. I don't know if I could right-foot clutch and left-hand shift. That would feel weird.

Trust me, I'm not here for relationship advice. Nice to see that my analogy went-over your head though, not that I'm surprised...

As far as an auto being more fun, nah I don't think so. I own six cars and trucks; three are manuals and three are auto's, I drive them all regularly. All have their place (which is why I own them) in fact my DD is an auto and my tow rig is an auto. But all my fun cars are manual's for a reason.

I wouldn't want to drive a manual on icy roads.

I think certain types of autos can be fun. I like driving my 5-speed little truck, always fun to row the gears. I also like driving my 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) BMW. The DCT is an auto, but it shifts like a hyper competent manual trans driver, it floats gears and blips the throttle on downshifts. I could heel & toe my truck all day but that would be tiresome. The BMW does it no matter what and shifts gears in 80ms, hard to get much sportier than that (its two manual transmissions in series shifted by a computer), it's like if I was driving manual on my A game all the time...

I don't think much of this argument anymore, it'll all be irrelevant with electric cars, we've got maybe 15 good years of combustion and transmissions left.

It doesn't really change the experience much, did it for 8 years before buying my first auto.

How is that any different than an AT?

I've driven many icy roads with mine on the crappy stock tires and the much better ATs. No issues or differences that I can tell, even on some black ice. With some weight out back, the handling is nice, neutral, and predictable.

Wrong thread guys. Sorry. Supposed to be in the oem trd. Pulled the trigger7557C900-9004-4A8C-9B21-3E987B10B64C.jpg67CAF26E-804E-4846-9B03-89EE9352FBB0.jpg
I got dinged with a big calibration bill though. I think the seat feels better too (I already have desert does it jackers)
Now the real question is how do I get my front camera back in there? I have the anytime backup camera with an upgraded front natika camera but the space in the new grill is pretty much a cube, my old camera is a wedge with a bolt on the vertical axis. Oem listed at $400, while a kenwood is $99.

Im talking about the kind of ice, that if you park on an incline the vehicle will slide down the hill.

The auto wouldn't be much better, but having to down shift or up shift while steering and working the brakes when there is zero traction would be one more thing to think about while trying not to crash.

I did it for years living where the roads were ice for six months straight and didn't have a problem.

Maybe I should have said stopping or remaining in control, not so much about taking off from a stop, down shifting to hard, or driving with tje throttle.

Sorry, but I'm still not getting the difference or problem. Shifting is just shifting. It really doesn't take much effort after the getting used to it on the first few drives.

In a situation like that, you'd be in 1st or maybe 2nd and just leave it there.

Can't say I've ever had any difficulty or noticed a huge difference. We get plenty of ice and black ice here in the winter. I actually really like the manual for slowing down, it's predictable and doesn't down shift at inopportune times cause the tire to break loose from higher engine braking load.
