I want a Tundra Twin Turbo!
I am saving up. Hopefully by the end of the year when they come out, I will get one.

I have a 13 year old son who wants the Tacoma. We shall see.
I would rather buy him a older, cheaper vehicle to wreck.

Make another thread. I fully support unlocked tunes. I won't flash locked tunes onto customer vehicles, even with my release of liability. I can't explain what was changed. Any tune I have made, I have left unlocked and I have shared them with a few others on here.

There are a few threads in the Performance and Tuning forum discussing vF. I just recently found it myself.

After a very long night (its 5:30am here), I have updated VR to version 2.0.2 and also converted the file to a 2019 AT / 04B33 tune as well. My 2019 tester will be flashing to his truck soon and driving the hell out of it looking to anything weird which may have resulted during the switch over.

Tomorrow begins the process again for 2018 AT / 04A61 trucks.

Had to start over from the beginning after a trip to the store for more alcohol lol

    So Cal (SFV)
Here's my review, (not comparison, because they are very different to me), of @PapaRee Kruiser4.0, @Mooseditty17 Ultimate Daily Driver+Gear Lock, and @PapaRee KDMAX 6.0+Gear Lock. All on 87oct, stock gears, 33's.

    Kruiser4.0 (3 tanks)
Holy crap. Coming from the TSB update, this completely transformed the driving experience. It felt like a new truck. Tip-in was on the high side, but after a few days I got used to it. Power is delivered quickly. I was so impressed with the results that I kept driving it as is, without any major issues. Having 1st and 2nd hold longer, made local driving much more enjoyable. It had a lot of OOMPH. Completely forgot to ask for Gear Lock here, but the fun overshadowed the need for GL.
Did this need more work? To me, no. But of course it has been improved/replaced now.

    MD17 UD+GL (3 tanks)
The name of the tune says it all. This is what the Tacoma shouldve been like from the factory. I asked MD for a little more tip-in than the tune he had. It's been so damn smooth driving it. Coming from Kruiser4.0, this felt more refined. Not as wild, but still responsive. Gear Lock on this has been awesome. Finally, I can choose to cruise when I want to. I've been able to get to 6th gear at 40mph, just to try, and you'll see why.
This is the tune I'm currently running, again.

    KDMAX 6.0+GL (not enough)
This felt like a Kruiser4.0 had gone to puppy training class. The OOMPH, which I missed in MD17UD, was still here but was more refined and smooth. The "aggressive" tip-in that I was missing on MD17UD, was still on KDMAX, but adjusted just enough to smooth things out a bit.
The GL on this works, but it was not like the one on MD17 UD. I was not able to get into 6th until I had reached 65mph. Until then, it'd be in S6, but in 5th gear.
I really enjoy the gear lock. One of the main reasons I even wanted to tune the truck. But since it's still a work in progress, I went back to MD17.

So as much as I'd like to run a performance tune, I still like the daily driving tune feature (gear lock basically), over the OOMPH. Hopefully @PapaRee and @Mooseditty17 can work this out.
As far a MPG loss or gain, I managed to keep all 3 at 15.0mpg.

Again, you can't really compare the two. You either choose daily driving or performance. You can't have both....yet?

    *** update ***

Kreg was able to setup GL closer to AJ's settings. MUCH better.

Once again, they are different types of tunes. Both are VERY VERY good. If I had a map switcher to go back and forth as needed, I'd definitely would have both of these as my maps.

the problem with unlocked tunes is, someone taking the "base tune" provided by a member or members, making a few changes, and calling it "their own" and making money from the "base tune" without proper recognition to the "base tune" supplier, up to and including, acknowledging the original tune developer, monetary "royalties" to that developer.

tune sharing is great, until it isnt. think of all the hard work, time, miles on the truck, late nights in development, success, failures, cash out of pocket, to the super user/super tuners, only to have "someone" call all that hard work "their own".

this is why Mat is doing what he is doing, to protect his intellectual property, and investment, to get a return on that investment. this is also why many of the super user/tuners, are locking their tunes, and being more secretive. we did this to ourselves out of envy, greed, and the "need to feel important".

dont kill the messenger but, this is happening right here on TW NOW!

    your results, may vary. Ski

I agree with your point. Unfortunately I love trying new tunes and seeing how they improved things. But I also like customizing it to my liking, and the ability to change what I would like to change. I completely understand why the need for locking them is there, it's unfortunate that a few dbags ruin things for everyone else.

Most of the folks with the locked tunes have been receptive to making changes for individual people. @PapaRee for example has made me custom KDM6.0 tunes. @Mooseditty17 has made custom tunes for users as have many others.

I agree it sucks to not know exactly what’s in it, but it’s the price we all get to pay for a few people being assholes.

I’m actually having some fun driving custom locked tunes and then playing in vF trying to recreate them by driving and logging, etc... it’s actually a great way to learn. I’m also learning I have a lot to learn...

As a "tune creator", I will certainly make minor adjustments for people to customize one of my locked tunes.
UD has been going for $50. That's a tank of gas. Cheap gas at that! Throw me a few bones and I'll raise or lower whatever you want. I'm not in it to get rich, but my time is worth something...

Since I have really been involving myself on here the wife understands which is great she know's my taco is my second love lol.
