quick transmission question.

ok so i really really really need to change the transmission fluid in my taco. I got a 2000 v6 5 speed trd 4x4. I was told the manual has no filter to change and all i needed to do was a drain a fill. is this right? also what kind of fluid is needed in a manual? i know nothing about transmissions and i have never serviced a manual.

 

It's actually very easy to replace manual transmission fluid. It's similar to doing the front & rear differential. You only need 80-90w gear oil. There is no filter on a manual transmission. The interval for manual trans fluid is usually around 30k.

ok thanks for the link...........im prolly gonna switch to synthetic while im doin it.

 

75w90 mobil1 or 75w90 royal purple will be nice...and you will notice a shift improvement as well im pretty sure.

 

i just looked at both of thoes haha but holy hell royal purple is freakin expensive!!!! i dont need any additives do i?
