For someone that hates clutch slip and enjoys getting rolling without raising the revs, the embarrassment of losing the fire still happens from time to time.

Some cars are really bad about it too. I stalled a 6.0l chevy v8 in a pickup with 4.10 gears way more often than I want to admit. I blame the electronic throttle

Totally agree with this. Every vehicle will be a little bit different. I stalled this truck while it was still on the dealer lot haha

    ETB blame is always fair.

I have my torquey L-twin bike setup to run well at normal temps. I have stalled that while it is still coming up to temp. Simple open loop EFI and cable throttle.

Just a thang and adds to the fun.

Maybe l am missing your explanation but what exactly do you see as a problem with a manual transmission on ice?

The accumulator is really not necessary and causes stalls for old time manual drivers because it slows down clutch bite.

My 14 STI did not feel like it had it, 16 most definitely does.

BMW has been putting them in post E46.

But none is worse so far than hellcat, it literally gets reduced to pin hole, so infuriatingly slow.

Not really sure what the point is in slowing down clutch bites.

I wonder why the manuals dont have the hill hold feature? My auto Tacoma has it, and my manual Mustang GT has it. Of course, not needed in the Tacoma with the auto, but I like it in the Mustang. If you're on a hill, let off the brake, 2 seconds later, brakes release and off you go. You just need to know the timing. I've had sticks for years, actually probably had more stick cars than auto cars and dont need the hill hold, but I like the feature on the Mustang.

Seems like you could stall it, and you might need two hands on the wheel, and you have more pedals than feet. Shifting gears and trying to avoid hitting things could be more difficult than not having to shift gears while trying to avoid hitting things.

People who don't drive manual seem to think manual drivers are constantly shifting lol.

Thankfully l have never experienced any of those issues on ice, you don't really have to do any of that through a tough area as you can just stay in whatever gear you are in or just push the Clutch in and coast.

Yeah before I got mine I assumed you shift all the time. It’s not as much as you think.

If it ever does something you don’t like, push the clutch in.

taught both of my kids to drive my old CJ2a with that as lesson #1. Somethings not going right, push the clutch in. 2.79 1st gear ratio and 33” tires with 60hp when it was new 70 years ago. If my 10 year old can figure it out, anyone can.

The Sports and 2016 / 2017 SR MTs have a line lock Hill Assist that cannot be turned off. It is an okay feature, but can be annoying if you want to roll somewhere in neutral. It releases immediately with any throttle input. No waiting.

Sorry, but that is just not how it works.

Of course, the old folks have trouble managing two pedals in their Camrys, often found parked just inside a lot of stores.

That depends on where you are driving. Urban environment with a traffic light every block, there will be plenty of shifting.
