I'm almost tempted to just pay someone to do the axles for me. I'm stubborn and prob will do it myself but almost seems worth it.

The only way to disassemble it is to cut the shaft off as close to the joint as possible. Then rotate the cage around, remove the balls, get it all separated. Then you still need to press out the remaining shaft. There’s a C that you can’t access so the only way out is to shear it with an incredibly powerful press. Or what JD Fab does is get to that point and then put it in a lathe and just removes the material. I did the disassembly too but knicked a few parts with my grinder so I junked it.

This sounds like something I would say and do. And I guess did. Just save yourself the hassle and pay someone as opposed to paying more overall from potentially messing up an axle.

That’s on my list next. I want that and the Howe pump and cooler. Basically everything but the quickener. It intrigues me but i really don’t need it or think I would benefit from it.

Harry said you don’t want the quickener unless it is a dedicated off road rig

Which this basically is. It’s a second vehicle that I only take wheeling. But I’m a crawler so I don’t see the benefit. Plus I have long highway drives to get to where I’m going.

Need some advice on a couple of things :

    1. Hood pins for an aftermarket hood - I remember that someone posted some latches that were a bit more expensive but worth the $ but I can't find the post ? was it these ones ? https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/p...uDHRVm9vXWYe9970Bhf-e-FjctDrgIAcaAvl4EALw_wcB

    2. Tires -

I need to get some new tires as soon as my truck is done at JD Fab. I'm running Nitto Ridges Grapplers now and have not had any complaints other than snow / slush when we go to the mountains in the winter...not bad just not " good "

I had Nitto Trail Graps previously and they had surprisingly good road manners but were scary in the wet or snow.

Was thinking about trying out a set of Toyo's this time around and I'm looking at the RT and AT3, obviously the AT3 would be the best in wet and snow but has anyone run them offroad ?

I'm running these hood pins and they're very nice. They're made in America so made with quality parts and it also explains the price. The company offers other sizes and even locking ones as well.

Tires, the cooper ST maxx are similar to the ridge grapplers but awesome in snow and ice too.

You can see them here, they're pretty unassuming. Not too large.

I’m using the aero catch hood pins. Make sure you get the kit that has steel pins. The aluminum ones break easily. It’s the extreme series that have steel pins.

I just printed out the aerocatch installation instructions and it they provide a nice template that prints out to scale with the center points marked for a 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" hole saw

edit - @Airdog posted that pic while I was typing this
