It's over in like 2 seconds, I'd be more worried of the potential side effects than the needle lol.

Like getting stung by a bee, nothing to be worried about. At least it's not chasing you in an angry swarm, flying up your shorts and stinging your nuts

I fainted last time I had metal removed from my eye so now I wear some goofy looking bulky ass googles all the time

Last time I went to the hospital I was borderline livid because the ambulance guy said we wernt going "just going to check your vitals"

I remember freaking one of my FNG's out when I got our corpsman to give me a bag of saline; was getting drunk at the barracks and showed the new guys how to properly insert a catheter in your vein for an IV.

That's how my wife is. Utterly terrified of it. Actually blood draw she hates, not so much the needle part.

I'm one of those weird people that has to watch as they stick the needle in. Looking away gives me anxiety. I want to know when it happens, no fucking surprises lol.

I gave a nurse shit one time, telling her she needs to lay the needle flat with my arm.

She went through the vein and left me bruised; told her 6 inches above the initial puncture otherwise we'll have to move onto the other arm.

She's the one with a college degree and experience, and fucks it up?

it's funny how much of it is mental. After various knee dislocations and garage injuries my pain threshold and tolerance for the sight of blood is pretty high

Yeah when I had hernia surgery as a teen, the nurse kept missing the veins in my hands. When she was done my hand looked like it had been attacked by a rabid squirrel. Like goddamn, aren't you trained to do this lol.

When my SO went to get bloodwork done she went to a local clinic instead of traveling to her clinic up north. Big mistake, the MA fucked it all up and she was pissed cause technically they have to go through more schooling then she did. She had to coach them how to do their job while they were doing it.

After the doc visit she bought breakfast for her phlebotomy techs to thank them for doing their job correctly:rofl:. But she trained them so they're held at a high standard.

I used to hate looking as a kid then as I got older the anxiety got to me. Now I have to look. You want anxiety, try giving a primate a TB test in an eye lid.

Exactly why I took it so personal! Our corpsman went through a lot of periods of instruction with us on tending to many different wound types, etc.

In fact yesterday I found the slideshows and PDF of many different treatments from when I was in the military. Unclassified stuff so be happy to share it with anyone that wants it.
