My bank has an underground military bunker?

My Dad was stationed at Wright-Patt AFB in Dayton Ohio. They have at least two stories of underground facilities, I’ve seen part of the first floor.
He said for everything you see above ground there’s three times that underneath.
There are crazy conspiracy theories about those underground areas.

    Morning all

Anyone have any ideas why it might be doing this?

The oil pressure gauge reads 100 when it should be zero. When I turn the key to on position, it does a self-test, which sweeps the needle from 100psi down to zero, then back to 100. It shares the same power source, ground, and backlight source as the trans temp gauge and the oil temp gauge but the other two gauges seem to be operating fine.

    image.jpg

The other temp gauge show very low impedance and around 5 volts. The pressure gauge shows open leads both directions and no voltage.

    Bad gauge?

Is the signal wiring from the sensor reversed by chance?

I can't see how it would be, unless AutoMeter messed that up when they built it.

I'm going to see if I don't have better luck with a different ground.

Yeah that does seem unlikely. Checking the grounds is another good start. You might try isolating it from the other ones and see if that helps. Also, you may want to double check your battery terminals and make sure they're tight. I had a loose one the day before yesterday, and it made my Speedo do the same sweeping motion from 0-120 when i turned the key to on. Totally strange but could be a possibility

A little something every chance we get.
    Morning Robert.

Yes. Remove possibilites until you're left the the gauge itself

Had to run to Ace for new wire, and some PVC stick to shield it from danger (me). She only sold me one of two sticks, so when I went back in to pay for the other, this was in my way.

On the 3rd Gen's 3,5 is it the same motor in the Lexus RX? Because it seems like the RX is 10 times more responsive than the Tacoma.

My mustang did the same thing with airfuel ratio gauge when it was off it had a reading on it and when you turn the car on it did a self checking sweep then went to middle which was neither lean or rich I thought it was broken but the guy at summit racing said they all did that

Well, there is the major putz for the day. Greenhouse shade cover installed and cleated down. Vents are automatically open/close, so I'm not going to tie those two grommets down.

Ok, I cheated. I just opened a hole where I knew the wire was, and yanked it out of the ground. Now i know where to use the shovel tomorrow. I needed to shower and go the store anyway.

Spent most of the day chasing wires and testing and probing and more chasing wires. After testing everything I could think of I called my dad, an electrical engineer. Within a minute of me telling him everything he knew what was wrong. I don't speak electricianese so I'm not exactly sure what I did, but he had me combine the lead wire which should have a constant 5 volts at the probe to the chassis ground: magically it works.
