Changing light bulbs on 2017 toyota tacoma trd sport

Need help, order a set of LED lights from eBay, to replace the one I got on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD sport. according to the guy I order my light bulbs stating I could use H11 on High / Low beam and fog light. by reading through some of the comments on here you guys don't really say anything about using the same H11 on the high or low and fog lights. Please respond back

 

I bought h11 lasfit led for the low beam and h11 lasfit switchback led for fogs. The h11 for the low beam is supposed to fit h9 also but it doesn’t. Also I never use high beam ever.

I'll look up my order. I just replaced my low beam with led's but can't remember what I used. They sure do work better. One of my friends said I wasn't suppose to use led's because I would blind other drivers but the lights don't seem any brighter than other led's I see. If it were me, I’d hold off on any LED bulb in the fogs and do it properly and replace with a proper solution like Diode Dynamics SSE fogs. For $200 for the sports, it’s well worth the cost

 

One other thing, if you go LED in low beams, do it right.

As for highs, the H9 bulbs are probably the best option already installed by the factory

 

FWIW I replaced my OEM halogen fogs with OEM LED pods last night. (About $100 on ebay) My initial impression is that the LEDs are marginally brighter, but have a much sharper cutoff. Where before I had very wide dull illumination now I have some hot spots, but my first impression was that I liked the LEDs better. I might actually be missing a little bit of wide illumination but I'll take that trade off.

I was used to the LED light cannons on my mopar vehicles which are really bright and white, so the taco halogen low+fogs felt very underpowered on my first nighttime drives.

The biggest surprise to me was how easy it was to change the pods out. It took about 15 mins for the pair, the only tool required was a stubby philips screwdriver, and I could do it all reaching down from above. Despite the 4 mounting tabs, there is only one screw (upper, outside corner) holding the fog pods in place. The two inner tabs just fit into plastic pockets inside the bumper.

It did seem like those hikari ultras in the post above were the preferred low beam swap out from reading a few of the threads on here.

 

Is it ok

If I just put H11 on my Low and fog lights and leave the high beam only....

 

Quick question regarding bulb size. I have a 2020 Trd Sport, the factory fog light bulbs are marked H16, but it is my understanding that H11’s will also fit, but when I attempt to install H11’s (Sv4’s) I can not get them to seat properly. Anybody else experience this? Thanks in advance, stay safe.

 

Won’t fit! Best thing to do is go aftermarket. Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs is your best best and starting around $200

 

My best guess is to simply try a H16 bulb instead and see how that goes.

H11 on high beams will put out less light than the H9, it's a lower wattage lamp. LED lamps in non LED housings will give poor light projection down the road, but it might look brighter because the beam patters sucks and it's all scattered at a short distance. Just get some nice H11 halogen lamps (or modify the tab on a H9) and use those in your low beams.
