That doesn't turn it off on mine. I know that I must be stopped for the TCS to turn off with the long press.

When you stop at a redlight you have to get moving again. You can start off in 2nd and not up shift if you want.

I discovered that the other day, long press does nothing while moving and you get that auto LSD light.
    Well, here's the answer.

    Apparently I don't have it, I guess I wasn't on a steep enough hill.

Yes. While moving it is all equivalent to the short press.

And, yes. No HA on MT ORs and Pros. The ATs ORs and Pros have the goofy HA. It pumps the ABS after they're already rolling back and doesn't stop the roll. That's messed up.

The other crazy thing is that if the ATs are not completely stopped before grabbing drive, they will stall. Some ECU function.

I have to back and turn down a steep driveway (10’ drop in 30’) and towards the end the brakes make a rattle sound and momentarily let go, is this the ABS system? It’s fucking annoying.

Why do automatics have so many problems then?

They are tuned to optimize EPA tests, not user experience. People buy cars off of mpg stats and then bitch about how they got there. Toyota (and every manufacturer) does it because buyers reward them for it.

They don’t have problems from my own perspective. I drive in S5 and ECT. If that was the default setting I’m sure there would be far less complaints. With muscle memory I do this without even thinking. Even with my M4 MT I still have to make adjustments before I take off due to ridiculous stock settings that can’t be fixed even with a tune.

Shift to S mode. Shift down to S5 or up to S5 then hit the ECT button. Drive.

Ok I'm really not sure if your messing with me because I really don't know what "S mode" and "S5" is. ECT button ? You lost me friend. Do you mean like shifting gears from current gear to 5th gear ("S5") ? With or with out the clutch because I have done both (Some of u old timers may remember this little trick....hee hee hee). I have done this from 3rd gear to 5th, but only when I'm going downhill, like getting onto the Interstate when the on ramp is on a steep downslope. Please explain.

He's talking about an automatic. Shifting to S5 limits the top gear if the transmission to 5th and ECT is a button that changes shift mapping in the auto. Stuff we don't have to worry about by doing it ourselves.

In the beginning, God made the H pattern transmission. It consisted of three forward gears and one reverse gear. The engraved H pattern was displayed on the shifter knob, in order to teach future drivers how to properly drive a pickup truck; ie; the top left of the letter H was the first gear; the bottom left of the H was 2nd gear; the top right of the H was 3rd gear, and the bottom right of the H pattern was R for reverse. When properly applying the clutch pedal while shifting gears, the proper speed and traction is attained to control the vehicle. Through the years, additional gears were added thus expanding the “H” pattern Manuel transmission. I hope this helps ya understand because it is now past midnight and my fingers are dead from all this typing.

Oh. I didn't know that. Sorry. So that's what automatic gears are called these days ?

As a teenage new driver my parents failed at teaching me to drive MT. A friend with a red 1987 4WD Toyota Truck explained/taught it in a way that made sense to me, and gave me the confidence to have my first car be a MT. I LOVE driving MT.
For 25 years I've only owned MT vehicles. Now I was faced with wanting a new Access Cab Tacoma to replace my 2001 extended cab, and needing a 6 foot bed. They are only offered in AT.
Ive now come to terms with the AT. A big reason is my girlfriend can drive manual but isnt confident, so that left me driving 10 to 12 hours at a time on overland camping trips. Also, driving MT offroad in tight, sketchy situations is more difficult than with AT.
Finally I realized that it just makes sense to have a heavy overlanding truck, driven long distances on highways until getting on dirt, driving shared with an unconfident girlfriend, and in sketchy offroad situations to be automatic. But! any other vehicle I buy will 100 percent be manual. Because I love driving MT.

I understand why and how marketing works with the autos, maybe that's a downfall to the automatic trans in itself? I was just poking at the guy who called us cavemen haha

I get the appeal and would love to own a MT but I never properly learned and how the hell am I going to now. Last time I tried I was in highschool, the constant stalling out and looking like an asshole in my neighborhood left a bad taste in my mouth.

Definitely a bucket list thing but who has the time.
