Does anyone know a good slip-on type fj shift knob? I’m using 1/2 steel rod and really don’t want to thread it lol

What about just welding a bolt on the end? That’s what I’d do if I needed to thread something

You could also weld the thread end of the original shifter on there.

That’s what I did with my old shifter. Cut out the center and welded a wrench in. Blended it all together and it looks like a wish.com version of a hurst

Nice. How are people attaching the boot to the coin slot?

    I have mods
Zip ties. Lots of material there, just cut slits into the boot for them.

I’m still making my way through this thread, about 30 pages deep so far but I thought I’d ask anyways.

I have a 6MT so I’m going to have to open the cases and swap stuff around.

For the ADD, my plan is to put the truck in 4HI and then unplug the 4WD ECU, leaving all my factory stuff untouched in the front. It’ll just remain engaged all the time.

My question is, when opening my old transfer case to swap input shafts, will it matter than it’s in 4HI? I don’t care about losing those syncro keys (assuming it as them) as I’m not going to put the case back together.

I do know when opening the FJ case to leave it in 2HI.

Here's the FSM for disassembly if you don't have it. You can move the shift shaft once it's out of the truck anyway so it doesn't matter what state it's in before cracking that bitch open.

I found your post earlier in the thread with all the FSM’s attached. There are some gems in here.
