Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

So today I went todo a flash on my truck and getting this error.

 

Why are you trying to read? You don’t need to read the ecu

 

I always clicked reas before flashing to verify communication. So obviously there is something wrong in my software.

 

In the older version, you could click identify to verify communication. That button doesn’t exist in the new version

read attempts to download the ecu. But tune files are read locked, so it’ll fail

you can flash just fine.

I'm having a similar issue. I upgraded to the latest software and when i try and click prepare ecu, I either get the message that Mattchew gets or this one.

 

Oops. Not sure why the picture did a doubletap. I put in a ticket with VFtuner a week or so ago and never heard anything back. 404 is usually p[age not found so I checked internet connection and it is working fine. I actually made these posts from the truck.

 

are you selecting prepare ECU first, then selecting the file?

Did you edit your vin and ID out? or did it never show up?

Are you connected to the internet?

my can timeout is usually around 120ms, yours is 333ms (dont know if that means anything or not, but i noticed it)

 

I believe I tried it both ways. Select file first the click prepare ecu and vice versa

im thinking there is some sort of comm issue between your computer and the truck.

when i hit prepare ecu, my vin and ID fill out immediately.

It could be software from VFtuner side as well. I did NOT update this time because i saw all the issues, they were all supposedly fixed in the latest one, but it didnt have any "updates" that i needed.

 

Your CAN timeout is way long. Either bad USB, bad USB cable, something interferring with connection, drivers, something. But that CAN timeout is way too long.


and we have about 400 new emails as of this morning, so we are just getting an absurd amount of inquiries right now. We are trying to get back to everyone as quickly as possible.

 

Just to make sure, is your ignition on but engine off?

 

the last successful flash was last november ish. I wanted to try the premium map and saw that I should upgrade. I should not have done that. Now it does not work.

 

Key is on but truck is not started. Like it says in the instructions

 

Not sure. I'm using the same gear I did last year when it worked. The orange dongle I got from you guys and the cable that came with it.

 

When is the last time you've restarted or powered off your laptop? I had issues if my laptop had been on for a few days. Any time I go to flash now, I restart the PC.

 

This morning but hell, I'll try again.

 

There is also an option in vF now to update your driver's. Could give that a shot as well.

 

Reinstall the old vftuner.

 

Ok, did a fresh restart, tried again and got same results. Still high, 369ms, CAN timeout. Would removing the software and reinstalling hurt anything? Same with drivers?
