Guess we got lucky. Closed a week ago on a house in central NH that we were selling since my mother’s cousin died in January. Used the same realtor who sold him that house 4 years ago and sold his previous house for him just before that.
Listed the house on a Thursday. Started showing the house on the following Tuesday. Got a lowball offer the first day with a time limit. Declined that.
Showed the house about 15 times over 3 days and had 9 offers by Friday. Most were over asking, but were financed and required inspections and appraisals. We didn’t believe the house would actually appraise for what some people offered — guess they were hoping it would either appraise at that value or we would renegotiate if it didn’t.
Ended up taking a cash offer just under asking and closed 3 weeks later — exactly 4 weeks after initial listing.

    As opposed to?

I've always said my ultimate home would be a two-room apartment over an eight-car garage!

Mines gonna just have a decent sized detached shop, 2 car attached garage and plenty of living space. I also want a walk out basement. Guess I'm spoiled, I want the best of both worlds.

I like having everything, too. :D

5 bedrooms, 3.5 bath, 3 stall attached garage, stairs from the garage straight into the mechanical room, theater room, office, enough space in the basement for a pool table which is unfortunately missing...

It's going to be hard downsizing when the kids move out but I certainly won't need this much real estate!

Nobody likes a bragger Fargo.
That sound amazing. When I bought my place it was before I had a wife/kids in mind and the 3 acres and big barn was a major selling point, and the fact that the living quarters was a 1,300 sq/ft was not a problem. Fast forward to 10 years later, and I have a family and wish I had more living space. I’ll say that your situation is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
One of the hardest things is that we love our property and what we’ve done with it, and it’d be hard to go somewhere else with less yard and the features I’ve added.

Keep in mind I'm in Fargo! Comparable houses in Orlando look to be going for double what mine is... because who wants to live in Fargo?

We didn't need this much house but the market was good, we'd both just got new jobs with pay increases and we loved the layout so we jumped on it.

We had a monster of a thunder storm roll through as the party started. After eating cake and opening presents we went out and played in the pool puddles :D
