Just additional out-of-the-box thinking...Rain or water or soapy water seeps into wratherstrip of door window seals, then makes its way on to lubricated door internal mechanisims, gradually over time somehow making it film on to water beads as it drips down through the weephole at bottom of door which then the contaminated water sits at the base of cabin door-sil...?

I mean, I've seen unnatural problems not typical in home repairs of what might seem unrelated at first but then reveals a completely bizarre series of events leading to the final effect of the problem...

Yeah, worst case, I have good insurance, so it'll get fixed one way or another. I would think the paint on the side-step would be eaten up, too, but who knows?

This is part of what gets me - the paint under the weep hole there looks fine and, even though some of the paint from the rocker panel is on the inside edge of the door at the bottom, the paint on the door along with the weather-stripping look and feel fine.

I had the same pondering as I was typing up my first response...

Another possibility...We are in the Twilight Zone.

I really hope you are able to get that issue resolved sir.

Oh...another possibility...a mean prankster at manufacturing decided to Plastidip a random Tacoma, and you drew the lucky short straw...

Are the side steps powdercoated? Most paint strippers won't eat powder coating

It honestly looks like there was a chemical inside the door cup holder that spilled. Ive had things spill in the cup holders and thats exactly where it drains to.

In one of your pictures I can see the edge of the plastic door card is discolored too.

I tested that by pouring water in the bottle holder area with the door closed and it drains to the flat part up top where the paint isn't damaged at all.

I take back both of my prior statements. The side steps are powder coated and I found that some of the paint on the bottom of the door is coming off, too, so this is looking a whole lot more like a freak chemical thing of some sort.

Remove your door panel and take a look inside there. Should give you a idea of where it came from.

It was from the first post, my friend.
    Good luck with it.

Well, I still have no idea what happened, but it is what it is, I guess. I'm kind of afraid to follow 5nahalf's suggestion of removing the door panel to see how things look in there.

Sure looks like you ran over a chemical.

The fact that goes under the door, but not on the outer door leads me to believe its not something that was ran over.

But here are the possible causes that I can think of.

1: something spilled in the door cup holders and drained down
2: something was sprayed into the door locks to clean them out, but it damaged the paint as it was draining out. (what I would think is most likely)
3: someone sprayed a chemical into the door using a straw (least likely as if someone wanted to damage your paint, they wouldnt spray it into someplace not seen.)
4: if you recently had freezing weather, perhaps something was sprayed on the windows to "de-ice" them, but being from GA, you wouldnt have access to the same things we have up here in the north.

Maybe you stepped in chemical and while it wasn't much the wind down the side while driving caused it to spread

Do you have a spouse that drives the truck? Some skin moisturizers and tanning lotions are pretty nasty stuff to paint

Too much damage for the transfer of something off a boot heel.
Certainly not that of any off the shelf chemical at your local parts store.

I've never sprayed anything into the door or keyholes. The winters down here are mild enough that de-icing the doors or locks is not a thing. Worst that I've ever had happen was years ago with a door that was frozen shut on a Ford, but the latch worked and some yanking freed it up.

I'm the only person that drives the truck.

Well, I think your only choice now is to pop off that door panel and try to trace where its coming from.
