local hardware store had dozens of sizes. Just a normal countersunk socket head screw in black oxide. Don’t remember the size but I just took one of the oem screws in to the store and found four of these in the same thread pitch and length

I built them. They are kits from CLC boats. Incredibly they were built in 1999 and 2000....varnish and paint the scars every few years. I love them and they always draw a crowd at Tahoe.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Try a hollow steel punch. Clean holes, no drill.

The red one is their famous Chesapeake 17'. The white one is a 19' called North Bay(this kit has been discontinued, but they may still sell the plans). I love the North Bay. Sad they stopped the kits. The North Bay is only 22" wide with 19'6" length....fast and track like an arrow.

I tried this as well, but found the gas tank in the way. I mounted low on the side wall instead.

Yeah- I love having hood struts on my 2020 Tacoma.
I also own a 2010 4wd Japan built Rav4 and a 2015 AWD Limited Rav4. Neither of them have hood struts either. The hood on my Japan Rav4 actually seems even heavier than the one on my Tacoma.

The kit comes with the switch and everything you need to install, even the drill bits and tie wraps, its all precut and made to fit exactly as you want it.

That switch comes as part of the scoop light bar. They are CH 4x4 switches though
