Do you have any front or rear shots? Also how is the ride and what pressure are you running?

Definitely notice the higher load range tires. Stiffer. Been running them on the road at standard pressure (38). Haven't had them off road yet. Attached is a front pic next to an Pro. Don't recall what tire size they had. 285?PXL_20210105_190210839~2.jpg

Just curious if anyone is running the 255/80/r17s on a stock TRD Pro? Thinking about grabbing a set based on this thread.

I freaking LOVE these things! Not too loud compared to many other ATs. Been good in the rain. Never felt like I lost it or was on the verge of losing it. During the snowpocalypse here in TX I tried a few times to get loose and spin them and they just Hook!! Off-road has been superb as well! Great grip and clean out well! Probably got about 5k on them now and you can’t even tell (if you’ve ever seen toyos or had them, the ATs have a top layer that sits a little smaller than the main tread. It’s maybe 1/32nd and still there) These trucks are so light that as an LT tire I wouldn’t be surprised if I got 50k out of them easy!331AD7C0-C53A-4A6C-9DA1-0864EFDAC363.jpg

I just put on 255/75/17's on TRD SEMA wheels on my 2020 OR and I get some rubbing on the driver side front even with the mud flaps removed. I dont know how people are running 255/80/17's stock with no lift.

Get it aligned, and tell them to push the caster up, you shouldn’t rub.

FWIW, I am running 245/75-17 on TRD SEMA wheels and don't have any rubbing. Probably not a surprise. I was thinking about 255/75's so interested in your results. Would you mind posting a couple of pics of your truck? Maybe with one showing how much tire is sticking out? Was hoping this set up wouldn't have too much "poke".

Can anyone talk me through the correlation between wheel width and popping a bead while aired down?

I’ve got some 8.5” wide wheels on order and was hoping to get 255/80 falkens, but I’ve read a few posts that mention concern about airing down on a wheel with that width.

How much more prone to this will I be compared to say the stock sport rim?

    thx!

Can’t comment on bead but know that you’ll be scraping and gouging your wheels left and right if you go 255/80/17 with and 8.5. Just go 275/70/17 or similar if you’re dead set on the wheels

Not exactly the size you asked about but I am running 255/85/r16 on my Pro with no rubbing. 09605F96-451A-4142-94E6-75ABCC0F3286.jpg

Are you saying that because of the width of the wheel, width of the tire, or a combo of both? I think the root of the question @Haun0002 is asking is, what's the wheel/tire threshold that needs to be considered where keeping the bead on is in jeopardy?

An 8.5” wide wheel with a 10” wide tire is a bad idea for a truck that’s going offroad. The wheel won’t get any protection. Can’t really comment on the safety of the bead at normal PSI but that small of a margin is worse off at low psi

ya that’s pretty much what I’m trying to figure out. The trails that I’m doing do have some rock but nothing insane. I’m not too worried about rock rash as it’s just cosmetic but I would be more concerned if I was 50% more likely to pop a bead at 15 psi compared to say my 7” sport wheel.

Thanks very much. Looks about the same as my 245/75-17 in how much they stick out . I tried zooming in but still couldn't make out which tires are those. What model of tire are those?
