    The diagnostic fee?
I’m betting the legal fess will be 3x what they charged you for the diagnostic.

As far as the repairs to the truck.
Yes, I think you have a valid legal case to have them repair it.
But, speaking from experience. It may not be worth it.
( I had a dealership sell my car on consignment. I never got paid.
I had to pursue legal action, it was a huge headache)

    It works both ways.
It not worth leagal action for $850.

I’m betting the shop will fix it for you.
You need to talk to them first.

Yes, and I’m hoping I can get them to give me a check or cash to pay the dealer directly.

By “fix” you mean replace the broken parts right?

Ok so the problem seems to lie with the steering angle sensor. Hard to say what they did without seeing the install. Perhaps they were testing wires and shorted the circuit. Might just be a blown fuse. Maybe when they were pinning the wires to the clock spring connector they did so with the SAS instead. So maybe they removed the wiring in those pins mixing up the connectors. Again really hard to say without seeing photos of their work. I don’t know where the SAS is on the Tacoma in relation to the clock spring so perhaps it’s not really possible for them to mix up the wiring. Maybe instead they pinched a harness when taking the dash apart to do the install. Or lord only knows what else could of happened. Again without us seeing it, it’s all a guessing game.

Yes, and any expenses associated with replacing the parts.
As in labor and further diagnostic needed.

Seriously though, just go talk to the shop that did the install.
Be polite and understanding. Everyone makes mistakes.

The dealer did replace a fuse for something and didn’t charge me for it; I’ll have to go back over the paperwork. I believe the fuse was why the traction control was on...

My mechanic is able to do the job and will be way less than the dealer; The owner of the shop promised yesterday that he’d get the cruise control operational.

A guy in the 3rd Gen section took his new truck to some stereo store for a sound system and one of the idiots drilled a hole into an ECU and put a screw in it. He was obviously having weird electrical gremlins, l cant remember how it turned out but know the guy had the dealer and stereo shop in contact with each other.

So I dropped the truck off at an established business that specializes in this sort of thing; It was supposed to be done by 1pm on Friday but it ended up not getting done until after 4pm. The shop called me and informed me that the cruise control was in and powering up, but not actually working; They believed the dealer just had to reprogram it. The traction control light was on, too...

Imagine my shock when I found from the dealer earlier today that the clock spring and the steering wheel angle sensor were both broken! Dealership quoted me $851 to replace, so I went for a second opinion at my mechanic, who can the parts for replace much cheaper. Obviously, my intention is to make the place that installed the cruise control pay for every cent! My dad is thinking that I will have to settle for letting the place fix the truck if I don't want to pay...

Not sure I would go back to that place...but that’s just me.

Well I want them to pay to fix what they fucked up, but I definitely just want them to get the cruise control working and then I’m done...

We're getting thunderstorms tomorrow; Still gonna do DoorDash though...

Truck is perfectly safe to drive; I'm just back to square one because I still don't have cruise control and now my truck unnecessarily needs parts replaced!

I had aftermarket OEM-style foglights installed in my truck last month; In the last week, two people have frantically flashed their high-beams at me and a third guy actually confronted at a car show last night me for having my high-beams on and blinding him.

I see people driving around with their foglights on all the time, and from what I can tell it’s not illegal to have them on if the brights are off.

What I believe what I encountered last night is a male Karen who didn’t know the difference between foglights and high beams. I was parked in one direction and had the windows down since it was nice out. My friend was in the truck with me; He was in his 1950s Oldsmobile driving towards me. After I looked at my gauge clustered and informed him that my high-beams were off (I have legitimately forgotten to shut off my brights before, but not since the foglights were installed), he drove off in a huff.

My headlights are aftermarket units with LED halos, which I installed myself back in September 2020; Should I have my mechanic adjust them when I bring the truck in to get the clock spring replaced?
