    I'd rather have a GT-R.

If this new Nissan Frontier is well received by consumers...I may just add one to my garage as a companion to my Taco as well...

The body design looks like it was LEGO-pieced together from 2016-2020 Tacoma, F-150, and Colorado parts. It's interesting...

The GT-R is a bloated pig and the current Supra is it's ugly sister. It's like the Japanese lost their way when it came to this segment.

How does nobody see the similarities between the new Frontier and a Silverado?!

Then why the hell do you make disparaging remarks about it on a fucking enthusiast's forum?

The HP and torque numbers are fine, they just aren't in the right place for a truck.... My 10000lb superduty can walk my empty Tacoma off the line every time. Not complaining, just saying they could have done a better job of tuning this "truck" engine.

Your 10,000lb super duty was built for a completely different purpose. Tacomas aren't built to be workhorses or speed demons. Regearing you truck might get you what you want, but that simply doesn't appeal to the masses.

My Mustang will also walk all over my Tacoma, but let's keep the apples with the apples, shall we?

My old Honda VFR800 can hit 100mph before your SD hits 30mph. Big wop!

Wasn't talking about outright speed, my Tacoma would take the Ford no problem in a quarter mile, I'm talking about the fact that there's not much power below 3000rpm which seems pretty damn stupid for a truck. If Tacomas aren't meant to be workhorses, then what's the point of having that truck bed in the back? I can't think of a situation where you wouldn't want power down low in a vehicle built to go 4 wheelin and haul shit.

This forum is hilarious, people get so defensive about they're Tacomas like they're their first born or something. Any time someone posts a simple observation about how Toyota could improve a little bit people loose they're god damn minds. I guess I'll just never understand some Tacoma people. I always see the argument "well it's a truck, it drives like a truck" Or "it's a truck engine it doesn't need to perform" yet the things are tuned, geared and drive like a damn car.

Anyway we've gotten off topic, I love my Tacoma. But I think that Nissan looks tits and will probably give it a test drive whenever it comes out.

You have a point but lets face it, the Tacoma engine and tranny aren’t inspired. It works but the more I drive it the more I wish it was a 2.7 ecoboost or the toyota 2.7 with a big turbo on it etc.

The Ford platform is the newest midsize truck platform sold in North America.

I'm pretty stoked about the new Frontiers and Rangers hitting the market this year. I had a 2019 Tacoma, but I sold it due to the before mentioned drive train performance (or lack thereof). I've still got my '02 Tacoma I bought new, still driving it, still loving it. Hopefully some competition will get Toyota to produce a truck with some bottom end torque and better overall performance.

Believe me, I'm the last person on this forum who could be classified as a fan boy. I love the look of the new Frontier. Would absolutely shop one if I was in the market. And to your point about there being room for improvement, sure, I'll always take more power..but I just don't know that I'm comfortable saying the Tacoma drivetrain isn't more than sufficient for what it is. I've got 33's and I'm still content. If I start towing an RV (future plan) I'll definitely regear.
