Hey guys n gals. Installing fox 2.5 coilovers right now. Passenger side went smooth. But I’m into the driver side and the top hat(?) threads do not line up with the shock mount holes in which the 3 bolts secure the shock to the frame. Damn. Is this something I have to take somewhere to get adjusted? Major bummer!

No, the top hat is machined out of aluminum and should match up pretty well.

there will be a little room for movement out of the top uniball but there are rubber spacers that keep the movement to a minimum

Just grab into it and twist left or right, make it line up. This shouldn't be so difficult, you're not going to hurt anything. Good luck with your truck.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. It’s turns a bit but they are off quite a bit and are pretty difficult to rotate. Spacer connecting to LCA shock mount should be facing towards front of vehicle correct? @Mully

you’ve got the shock in backwards. The two holes face out towards the tire and the one is in the back

I spun the lower shock mount and was able to line them up. As per @Mully and @hoarder23 suggestion. installed with the spacer for the lower shock mount facing front of vehicle. Should I have just repositioned the spacer?

As @desertjunkie760 said, your shock was rotated 180 degrees from the correct position, the long spacer for the lower mount should be on the front side to keep things from touching that shouldn't

Picture shows orientation of threads. With long lower mount spacer facing front of vehicle. If I would have rotated the shock 180deg the spacer would be pointing towards the rear. I didn’t think these were side specific. Am I wrong? Thank you guys for your help I really appreciate it.

If I were to replace the installed passenger side shock into the drivers side I believe I’d be in the same predicament unless I swapped the side that the space is on.

The spacers can be pulled out and repositioned. or the lower mount can spun around

image.jpg I had to run out for a bit. Back now and have the bolts seated. To me nothing looks off but I’m a newb. Let me know if you guys would like specific pictures. Here’s one of the top shock mount with bolts just snugged down.

Bolt up the top, drop the lca for room and stick a screw driver through the bottom mounting point...spin that thing 180 by hand and finish install.

I'd personally try to get the logo facing outward to let them know you running fox

The top is installed wrong, the tophat should flex perpendicular to the frame, you will destroy those as soon as you take it off the jack as they are currently installed
