    Hello everyone!

I've already ran a tank of gas through this truck in the last two days as I've been doing a lot of driving for fun. I've noticed a couple of interesting quirks.

My engine ticks. I've read that this is a normal thing for the 3.5L. I guess its just a noisy engine.

Also the transmission seems to downshift when I apply the brakes and makes a noticeable vibration when almost coming to a stop, probably around 15mph. I've concluded that this has something to do with the transmission as I've experimented with coming to a stop while in neutral and it is very smooth, no vibration.

Lastly, when I'm driving and the transmission is shifted into high gear I experience some significant stumbling when I either apply throttle but not enough to downshift or when I come to an incline.

This doesn't happen in ECT PWR mode though. It seems to be related to the transmission holding the 6th gear at such a low RPM. It looks like 1,100- 1,200 RPM when It occurs.
I've also read that this might be fixed by a software update. I think I'll call the dealership and set up a software update appointment.

I really like this truck besides these odd issues for it being so new. I look forward to reading up on this forum and meeting other Tacoma owners.

Hey congrats on the new rig! The ticking is common and is usually associated with the fuel injectors cycling. They are a noisier fuel injector. I have heard of the stumbling issue, but I’m not familiar with it though (6mt). If you aren’t pleased with it, setup an appointment.

Thanks! It definitely doesn't hurt to see if they can do a software update, right?

I agree, it is the dealership so go in with the expectation that they can’t repeat the problem lol. And welcome to TW. Great looking truck!!
