I can't speak for every state, but some do have laws about running fogs in clear weather. One of those things you'll get a ticket for if the cop is bored :notsure:

Are you using H10 bulbs? Some use 9005 bulbs which are brighter, but lack a glare cap.

Bored suburban cops are the worst!

Whatever the cheaper one is, that’s what my kit came with, because it was a pretty cheaper kit; I bought it for the wiring harness and plan on installing better foglights in the future...

It would be wise to have the headlight alignment check and adjusted if needed.

You could also check the State laws about the headlights and fog lights. Its always best to understand what the law states. Then you can make an informed choice.

The first question I'd ask is what brand of "OEM style fog lights" you installed? The reason I ask is that the optics in many aftermarket "fog" lights are anything but a true fog pattern - which is wide and flat with a very distinct upper and lower cutoff. (Think of a proper fog beam pattern as a wide band.) The only way anybody's going to flash you with a properly aimed, proper fog beam is 1) If they're aimed waaaay high, or 2) If they're not a fog beam pattern no matter how they're aimed. My bet is you don't have a fog beam pattern. (Caliraised sells one that's marketed as a fog but isn't anything like it.) The best way to tell is to pull your truck up in front of a clean wall - about 25 feet away - and see what the beam pattern is.

If you want the absolute best aftermarket fog lights, check this thread out:

The LED SAE J583 Fog Pod & Fog Light Review | Tacoma World

The other problem could be your aftermarket LED halo headlights. Aftermarket headlights are noted for poor adjustment mechanisms that sometimes fail. If that happens, your headlights could be aimed just about anywhere.

If you want the absolute best 2nd Gen headlight performance, read just the first few pages of this thread:

And ‘08, so no side airbags which means I could put bucket seats in it, but it’s white (white Toyota paint tends to not last) and I used to work in a detail shop...

I’ve seen multiple shitboxes cleaned up so they look like the best-maintained vehicle in the world!

Buddy l am sorry if you thought l was going for some kind of shitbox vibe. I was going more for the Tacoma spotting with Charlie type with one that just happened to be remarkably similar and clean like yours. It was meant to be a compliment on how well you take care of your truck as l am sure you have seen how thrashed that some things are out there.

Why are you apologizing? I would totally buy that truck if something happened to mine!

Good deal buddy, l was afraid you thought l was somehow saying it was a shitbox. Let's pray nothing happens to your truck so you are not in need of replacing it.

I hope I don't have to get my attorney involved in getting the clockspring replaced!

I found this story to be disheartening, the Home Owners Association does not like this guys old truck so they fined him and are trying to foreclose on his house!

Leaving for the install place now; Got an estimate from Pete about to come in, and obviously he can do it cheaper than the dealer...

I honestly don’t care who does it as long as it’s an actual mechanic, because I ain’t paying for it!

They’re not gonna pay for it; Gonna be more worthwhile to just eat the cost...

Install place won’t pay because they there’s no proof they actually had anything to do with it, because my mechanic removed the steering wheel in the first attempt to hook up the cruise control.

I don’t think it’s worth it to fight this any longer; Toyota dealer says the cruise control showing no signs of life is directly related to the clockspring and wheel angle sensor being broken.

My mechanic (same guy who attempted to install cruise control) used to be a Volvo technician before he went into “private practice” on account of the dealer where he worked being dishonest and ripping off customers, so he knows what he’s doing, I’ve known him for many years, and I trust him immensely.

Not gonna regret getting cruise control once it’s working, but I wouldn’t do this again if given the chance; I’d just buy an SR5 that comes with cruise control already installed!
