can clearing LV & AT be done in the current version on VFTuner (1.2.9.9.2)? I don't remember seeing an option.

Not at the moment. Mat is adding it for version 1.3
Currently you can do it with the 1.3.2 vf flash tool.

Thanks @PapaRee for putting out that amazing tune. I had a ~450 mile drive this weekend and for the first time ever I reached 21.5mpg with an average speed of around 70mph. On stock and other tunes I got around 18.8mpg. This tune just holds the gears perfect and makes driving my Truck so much fun. Anybody who loves the Kruiser should get the KDMax!

    1. Does this tune also include the improved maps for cruise control? Or is the tune only for when the truck is in D mode.
    2. What about users who already paid for/got a tune from you previously? Do they get an update patch with the improved tune? Do you stay with your existing customers.
    3. Do you also offer programming of the ECT button to be like a “turbo” button? Some VF flashers offer 25% more throttle response to the ECT button and shifts at a higher RPM.

    1. Yes, Regular Cruise Control.
    2. Yes, Discount for upgrade (see first post for pricing)
    3. Yes, ECT is higher throttle and higher shift points. I can put it however high you desire.

Shout out to @PapaRee for making my truck finally drive how I expected a 2017 truck to drive and for taking the time answering several questions. Coming from a 2000 manual Tacoma I hated how this thing drove and almost went and bought an eco booost. I first bought OV tune, tried all the tunes they came out with, but truck still hunted gears like crazy in the mountainous area I live in. Decided to re-gear to 5.29 and that made a huge difference in overall drivability and I was pretty happy, but still expected a little more out of the gear and tune combo.

Then went to Kruiser 4.0. This tune was a big step forward in making the truck fun to drive, but the throttle was a little touchy at times especially with the gears, shifting was smooth once the truck was warm, but it had rough shifts while engine/oils were still cold.

Then comes KDMAX 6.0. I'm on 33's -5.29-Regular throttle-gearlock tune. (Make sure you press ECT to activate, I made this mistake thinking it wasn't working) Absolutely blown away with how good this tune is. Pedal is very predictable with no more touchy throttle from a stop, but once you get moving it makes it so you don't need to press the pedal halfway to maintain speed. You just barely press the skinny pedal and it holds a steady speed. Acceleration is so smooth and predictable, and shift points are perfect. Hard shifts while cold are a thing from the past. Buttery smooth shifts even while cold! MPG's seem to be up but will need to put more tanks through to confirm. Like many others stated, butt dyno is up from Kruiser 4.0.

Awesome work! Anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and send PapaRee a PM for this tune!

Thanks so much for that review!!
Makes all the hard work and testing worth while.

Tuning noob here and first post to TW! So I'm really considering tuning my tacoma after reading this post. I have a 2017 TRD OR AT with 4.88s and 275/65/16s. It has had TSB 0058-18 so the ECU ID is 04B04 (please correct me if I'm wrong). The 4.88s made a huge difference but it still wants to shift early, low rpms, low torque and run like a dog if I don't use the ECT button, which I almost always do.

I've read quite a bit about VF Tuner and think I have a good understanding of the ECU flash process but with so much information available it can be overwhelming! I'm up in Northern Maine so there is not really any option but to flash it myself.

So my understanding is as follows:
    1. Purchase VF Tuner software and cable.
    2. Purchase KDMax tunepack from Paparee.
    3. Install VF on my laptop and receive a master key via email to complete the registration.
    4. License my VIN.
    5. Flash with KDMax! And do NOT reset LV/AT.

Am I missing any vital steps?

    Thanks all!

So I wasn’t sure if this tune was for real, let me tell you this tune is incredible mileage is up to 20.5 from 13, power through out is amazing. After a few questions for @PapaRee, he assured I would be in good hands with @HCFR TACO22, or @G8R_Taco and if not to reach out to him, both these dudes are stand up guys. I went with @HCFR TACO22 as he is a little closer. I asked @HCFR TACO22 a few more questions, he knowledgeable answered them, and I felt very comfortable with his responses. He was willing to come to Miami and do the flash after having a at least 3-4 trucks to flash, but I couldn’t wait, he arraigned a meet up by Fort Meyer, fl. I can’t say enough kind words about @HCFR TACO22, he was there at set time and location, did the tune in less than 15 minutes, hopped in my truck with me so I can test it, I made a U-turn couple 100 yards down the road and returned to the meet up spot, he encouraged me to test it a little more, but I told him no need too, I had a smile from ear to ear! He contacted me a couple hours later to see how I liked it, and I had no words completely impressed. Do yourselves a favor and trash those pedal commanders or whatever your using and get with the program! A tune is the only way To Go! Extremely impressed!
    Thank you
    @PapaRee

That is pretty much it, however, if you only plan on tuning your truck with one good tune and then leaving it like most people, and don't plan on trying out multiple tunes or creating your own tunes, you would save some money by just paying an installer to flash KDMax on your truck - if there is an installer in your area. Just a thought so you could potentially avoid all the headache with learning new software, waiting for licensing, master key, etc...

Everybody's truck is different they act different and run different I recommend getting vf tuner and tune pack for tacoma so that way if your not happy you can always change back to what ever tune you like I had to learn how to use this program but tw was a huge help. Once you educate yourself about vf tuner it's not hard to upload tunes to your truck. Someday I will have the time to make my own tune but the guys on here are really good. That all I got

I hear you. I searched around a bit, but so far no luck finding tuners near me. One of the obstacles of living so far up north i guess! Plus, I like the idea of having control over the process and being able to flash new updated tunes if necessary. Just want to make sure I have all my ducks in row before I proceed. Thanks.
