I agree, gotta get the practice somehow. I recently also scratched my prop shaft trying to get over a huge step that I didn’t need to get over (no vibes though thank god).

I sure didn’t buy my truck to drive around every obstacle :mudding:

It's scratched up, but has one decent dent. Didn't notice the vibrations till I got on the highway. Their is a driveline shop around here that local members I know have gone to to get them rebuilt with thicker gage steel. The driveline is one thing that is concerning to me for hard trails out in the boonies. Seen local guys completely mangle/twist theirs. They carried a spare luckily. It's unprotected, so thinking of getting a stronger one built. Hopefully it is possible just for the rear since my front is protected. I'll call the shop and see. Not sure if an OEM front shaft vs. heavier rear can be balanced? Still learning. Yup, practicing. Incidents like this are big learning events that stick with me. I kept trying over and over different lines. Should've called it before the time I slid a bit and dropped on it.

Yeah I’ve got full armor and have been getting out a fair bit to a local off road park, with everything from easy to extreme.

It’s been really fun going out and learning how big or steep of stuff I get up or down.

I’m dying to get out to some harder trials in Moab next month.

You only get better at this shit by going out and doing it.

It depends on how it failed. I've seen calipers where the caliper itself was stuck or the piston was seized. The brake pads were not making contact with the rotor on one side so when you applied the brake the only side doing any stopping was the good side leading to a brake pull.

I'll be cleaning up the wiring running down my drivers side A-pillar and hopefully installing a new antenna and connect it inside the passenger A-pillar so I can install both A-pillar trims and grab handles.

I've been getting static lately and I have a new antenna but haven't installed it yet. I did test it and the static is gone with the new antenna.

I just got done working on a customers Lexus when I drove it to the wash bay. I stopped the car and a pistol slid out from under the seat. I locked the car and informed the service manager to get the customer to remove his gun. The customer was there waiting at the time.

I used to carry a spare but it’s just so large. What I do now is just remove the rear driveshaft and drive home in front wheel drive if I need to, which I’ve had to do once.

Yeah, I used to have one up top but then shed all that weight up there and I'm so glad I did.

why not just throw in the bed? I don't really notice the roof weight TBH.

Because it's one more thing to carry that I feel I don't need. If I were going to Moab, sure. I'm careful about my driveshaft though. I've given them some dents but I'm able to read the terrain pretty well and recognize when I need to be mindful of it and stack rocks to stay off of it.

edit: I didn't notice the roof weight until I removed it. Shedding 100 lbs up high was nice.

I noticed the difference of a 38 lb roof rack. I didn't like it.

I can see that, i go camping with my girlfriend quite a bit on more than 2-3 day trips. so i really need the beds pace for supplies. so roof space is kind of essential for me. Im planning on building a camp trailer when my girlfriend and i get engaged and shes getting a 4runner. Use that for camping trips and shedding all the weight on taco and throwing 37 on it and turning it into a trail beast lol.

Washed and spray ceramic coated my truck yesterday. On the roof i've been noticing this for a while now. Is this the dreaded clearcoat failing first step??

    IMG_2862.jpg

Its not bird poop or anything. I'll be honest its been there for probably a couple years now but i've been much more diligent about protecting the paint since i started noticing that spot (theres another smaller spot just outside the camera view as well).

What do you guys think? **oh it does not come off with claybar**
