Yeah, I know as an old school guy I always equated larger magnets to higher-end speakers. I can't say if that's the case any more, but maybe.
I am waiting to pass judgment good or bad until I'm done installing and setting it up 100%.

I guess if you wanted different stereo speakers, at least you'd be setup for typical 4ohm speakers at that point (pretty sure the OEM Audio were 4ohm). Yeah, I now it's even more money on top of an already steep entry ticket price.

Wait wait wait. If that's considered small, I seriously question what my girlfriend thinks of me...

LOL.............the back OEM Audio speakers are substantial. It is the front 6x9's that have a small.......actually very small and light........magnet.

I was contemplating the OEM system, I believe their dsp amp(if I could call it that) was calibrated with their speakers setup. I'm going to leave it at that as I'm not a Audio Whiz.

Subscribed as I have been thinking hard about purchasing this system for my 2020 Pro.

Just getting started (bought used with 20k on the odometer)
I have had the OEMA setup in my 2018 TRDPRO for roughly 2 years. It has been and is amazing in terms of sound and performance. I'd be curious to hear what they put together for the JBL Tacoma, especially as I felt the ones I heard were lackluster.

They are using neodynmium in their new speakers? That's actually impressive (and expensive). I know that they (OEM Audio) used traditional ferrite speakers with all of their door speakers front and back in the past (installed mine in 2019), so there must be a reason for the change, especially as it would have cost them more on an existing design. There are a handful of high-end home audio brands I know of that use neo magnets to produce an extremely powerful driver, without trading weight or depth - So makes me think that it must be installation-related.

I agree with this statement to an extent. Yes, magnet quality is critical for speaker performance. But basing this evaluation on physical size only is relevant if it's the same magnet material in an A/B comparison. If they are using neodymium magnets, the comparison would be like comparing a 250GB hard drive of the early 2000s to a 1TB SSD Harddrive of late, yeah that 250GB is definitely "bigger."

The fact that they would spend more on the 6x9 design they already had, has definitely piqued my interest.

As per Daneil @ OEM+, they changed to the neodynmium magnets on the 6x9's so they would also fit in the tundra's. Apparently the original ones wit the big magnets they had been using on the Tacoma kits would interfere with the window operation, so to streamline production, they changed all 6x9's to the new style so they didn't have two styles to stock.

When I spoke with Daniel 2 years ago, I strongly suggested he let people know they did this, so they would not get confused. Perhaps that's why they add a note with them now.

Here they are. I look at the use of the neodymium magnets like a twin turbo V6 in the latest generation Ford GT. If you just looked at the displacement and configuration of the motor you’d assume that you didn’t have a Le Mans winning race car. Technology has come a long way.

Has anyone begun to install this system and can provide feedback? Also, is OEM Audio now shipping the kits or are they still on backorder? Thanks!

    My post from a few pages back on 3/24;
Got mine installed in a 2018 Tacoma. Sound is great! Tons of bass, but I'm having a few problems though.
Bluetooth calls are not usable. I can place and receive calls but can't hear the other person. I may hear half a syllable before it cuts out completely so that sucks. Also getting intermittent feed back thru the rear sub when I first start the truck. It eventually goes away, but is a bummer non-the-less. Also intermittently maybe 75% of the time it mutes the first 2-5 seconds of songs both streaming Bluetooth and stored locally on the iPhone. Daniel has been great thru the whole process and I got an email week before last informing me they were going to get a truck in house to try to replicate my issues. I'm patiently waiting on a resolution, but this is getting old fast as I'm in IT and get a ton of calls each day and using the speaker on the phone won't work long term. I'll update this thread when they get back to me.
(As of today 3/29/21, I haven't received any updates.)

Have you texted Daniel? I found that is the quickest way to get a response.

No. I've been trying to stay cool and give them a chance to diagnose since I was one of the first few to order. I just shot them another email. I'll keep this thread updated.

That’s what I was doing to and then I texted him and now I have the parts that I need coming tomorrow or Wednesday. Daniel was happy that I texted him and sorry for not getting back to me sooner. There are zero drawbacks to reaching out via text. If he gave you his number, that is what he is hoping you do when you need an answer.

I have a 2020 and I got my system a couple of weeks ago. I did order right when it was announced though.

Did you install it yet? If so,

How much of an improvement is it over the stock JBL system?

How difficult was it to install?

How long did it take to install?

Any issues with Bluetooth, sub feedback, etc., like others have mentioned?

    Thanks!

I’m planning on installing my OEM Audio + system this week, hopefully starting tomorrow. I have several other things that I want to install at the same time (MESO Puddlelights and Stealth Pro shift knob, sound deadening, and Switch-Pros) which is why I have been putting this off until I have everything and I know what I need to do. I should be able to answer many more of your questions later this week.
