Took the pup out for a turbo walk today. His training in offleash recall really has done wonders for him and takes a load of stress off my mind.

like every thing else in our culture...people think they can just buy skill and sweat equity....or that bars will just be lowered and definitions changed to fit their choices

    not enough.
    PXL_20210328_185522857.jpg

What a perfect day. Just warm enough to wear a t shirt.

Side note: the altitude is amazing! It climbs MUCH better than I expected for a long travel bike. It can take the big hits really well as well! There are a few things I wish to change, like add some more high speed compression because I'm blowing through the travel on things I shouldn't be. But that's all upgrades for the future. As a stock bike, it works REALLY well. It gives me tons of confidence on the ride. I'm excited to take this for big hit days wherever I go. The only "upgrade" I've done so far is to switch out the shimano XT brakes for some SRAM Code's...because I prefer the codes. although...first things first. I need to change out the saddle. It does not agree with my ass.

It’s bittersweet hitting new harder trails.
At least it wasn’t my stanchion.
Took a wrong turn and went back to the top of the mountain on trail and didn’t realize it till I got to the top and saw the “you are here” on the sign. So added maybe 4-5 miles to what I wanted to do, bc I started so late I wanted to be back at vehicle around 6. Well I made it around 7. Was super nervous it was going to be dark on me in the woods.

We were out there as well yesterday. Took our daughter for another ride on the shotgun seat. Made it 4.5 miles, up road-runner/will-e-coyote and came down deadwood. She was mostly smiles throughout the ride and was yelling weeee on all the bumpy parts!

Anyone converted "non tubeless wheels" to tubeless? Just picked up a new gravel bike to train for MTB during the week when I can't get out to the trails, and the wheels are "not recommended" for tubeless. Some no name wheel, but came stock on my Poseidon X. Wondering if it's worth messing with these wheels because I don't want to have to buy a new set, though these are heavy and likely going to get changed out down the road.

Haha, it all came in a fancy box too.
It weighs the same as my crankbrothers y15 multitool. The chain tool is only good for 10 speeds and lower. So it’s kinda outdated at this point. Maybe someone with Box components will be interested.

Don't recommend. Tubelress ready wheels mean that the rim profile and clinch profile is made to hold onto the bead of the tire. non tubeless won't hold on to them and won't seal properly to give you an airtight seal. There are ways to do it with these strips of rubber that will convert it from non tubeless to tubeless BUT they're SUPER finnicky and never really work properly.

It was me! All the way from Salt Lake!

I have done it, back in the day when tubeless became a thing but there weren't that many tubeless ready wheels out there. It's a major PITA and that was on a mountain bike wheel. I'm sure a narrow gravel wheel is going to be much more trouble.

TL;DR you can do it but you're better off running a tube or upgrading wheels

You know I see stuff about how bad lead times are but I’ve been in bike shops across Colorado, Arizona, California and Utah this past week and they all have plenty of bikes. I’m sure I’m looking at it through rose colored glasses though.
