So here's a question for you guys - can you explain why the truck "surges" a bit when it shifts gears? Is this the "rev hang" you guys have mentioned in other threads? Or is this something else - I'm suspecting my transmission fluid might be low since the truck hangs a bit during gear shifts, even after it's been warmed up.

Rev hang is a manual trans thing

trans fluid is definitely worth checking

I think moose and some others have been tweaking AT parameters to smooth out shifting. Sounds like @PapaRee has worked some magic, maybe he can provide some additional insight

Are you tuned? The surge could be rated to throttle limits set for each gear. You will end up with a surge If they are set too far a part for a given accelerator positions. There is also torque converter clutch engagement. It will cause RPMs reduction during the engagement.
Hanging shift is byproduct of increased limits and some tunes are going into a single torque map, which needs to be dialed.

I am tuned. I have been using VFTune (33" Premium THX) so far and the "surge" is probably the only thing needing to speak to - everything else is great. I did reset the LV's about 120 miles ago, so I'm wondering if the transmission is still acclimating to the new tune.

No, I'd say it's less noticeable in the higher gears. You feel it more under throttle and in the lower gears - think 1st thru 3rd

So I went through the same except with D3 Performance software. He has less parameters it seems but it does make it a bit easier to learn. I have been tuning for several years with hptuners on other applications so tuning is not new to me.
Op just a fyi I did the same thing on the 3-4 shift and yes it felt like I was loosing a driveshaft.
Most of my work in the tune has been in cam angles and ignition timing parameters.
What have you found that yours liked in the intake and exhaust cam angles?
What about ignition timing on 93 octane?
Have you done any 0-60 Draggy passes or quarter mile?
I have seen quite a bit of gains with just some relatively small changes.

Have you tried to combine your torque shift maps? all but 4 low and sport? That really seems to make things very predictable, as well as ensuring ALL your shift maps match the Primary. This will require some dialing in though.

Raising base intake valve angles in the higher load areas make the truck "hold" a gear much better. Seems to give it some grunt. Gotta watch the Knock F/B values though and adjust timing accordingly

Anyone else not been able to up their red line? I was looking to get to 7k (or somewhere in the ballpark) really just for shits and giggles but when I flashed it I can’t get it to go past 6k?

I’ve tried twice in the last half hour or so (getting on the highway)

Thanks for making a tutorial. If I decide to do my own tube I will for sure have this saved and available for when I need it.

Well done! Thanks for putting this together.

If you or someone can explain the octane settings (ignition, spark control, etc) that would be appreciated!

Look at the lat part of first post on here. It explains this. It also states you can go too far. I get about 6800 with the values pictured. You're not allowing the truck to go fast enough to rev any higher, that's all.

That's a struggle with AT's. Shift logic is dictating that you shift before reaching redline. With the MT's you can reach that redline. Gearlock would do the trick for AT's

Or as canadian-wildlife-titties says, give it moar skinny and hope it doesn't upshift. Lol

How is the shift schedule set up in the ov software? Do they use OSS?
I data logged mine to find the OSS for a good wot shift.
