I just ordered one of these. A few negative comments about the cable not being able to fold on its own due to lack of space. Any concerns with this now that you have it on?

It's true, it sort of loses its foldable space and I'm sure that will eventually be an issue. If the steel wire gets frayed I'll order another. Otherwise I've done worse than pinch a steel cable before so I'm not as concerned.

upload_2021-3-29_17-27-7.jpgThe only thing they adjusted is the “toe”, never touched the cam tabs. That’s a toe and go. Lazy alignment tech, in the green and good enough.

Toyota Reliability 3rd Gen. Can we build one for you? Still rated the #1 mid sized truck in sales. But, I think I’ll keep my 2nd Gen—Till death do us part.

So many turd gen problems broken down by a jeep head. :D

But honestly, CPU issues are abundant with ANY newer make. The smarter the vehicle, the dumber the problems get.

    2nd gen all-day.

Changed oil yesterday @170K. Did the front diff today. Surprisingly the drain & fill plugs didn't give me any grief, new gaskets too. Transfer case & rear diff tomorrow. Did the manual trans before winter. Need to get more gear oil, & might throw fresh plugs in it while I'm in the maintenance mood.

3rd gen has been a mess since day 1. Lots of guys really enjoy them but the overall issues have really bogged down the flagship for a lot of people.

That said I watched his video the other day and generally appreciate some of his impartiality but a lot of his observations are just being late to the party. I mean really, the seat position thing? These trucks have had the same seating position since the Toyota pickups of the 70s. Keeps the roof low and the floor high.

Installed a Pop & Lock 8521 power tailgate lock that I picked up for half price on Amazon as an open box item. Also reinstalled my overhead console with a repaired outside temp/compass.

Anyone have this issue with a soft topper?

As I was tightening the rail it started sliding the foam away. I made sure everything was straight. Only happened on the driver side.

Got my truck back with the new frame almost exactly a month after I took it in. I've since put a 3inch lift on it and put a Mobtown single swingout plate rear bumper on. Getting the alignment done tomorrow.

This is exactly what I was looking for, next up will be rock sliders and hitch mount swing out tire carrier. Hehe!!
I got them assembled on the first clip for now, looking forward to them being nice and comfy on the rough road and fun fire roads here. The truck is at 140k miles so it was time for a new set of legs. I am changing everything that's old on the front end out all at once, Camber adjusters, lower control arms and all the hardware, outer tie rods and so on. New bolts and everything, also doing stainless break lines. Im paying my local shop to deal with all the hassle of breaking bolts loose or cutting them. Just let them cut the bolts and install the new oem ones. Still waiting on parts but everything will get installed soon. Im sure it will feel really different with the new front end assembly.

Yep same thing happened to mine. I took a straight edge and scraped them off and replaced it with the stick on weather seal foam tape from home depot. I think I used 3/4" wide 1/4" thick stuff. it was a little stiffer than the stock topper stuff but its held up well for me so far.

I installed one of these on my truck. The cable was repeatedly pinched and frayed after less then 6 months. Replaced the cable and then the new one was showing signs of damage after only a couple of months.
Even though I did like the easier lowering tailgate, I didn't like having to replace the cable every few months. So I removed mine.

I was thinking it might be because of the plastic bed rail cap. They move around when tightening the clamps. I ordered some aluminum ones from KB VOODOO. Hopefully it fixes the issue.
