@ClassyTacos - love your videos, man. On point. One question though.. What do the markings say on your watch?

Got around to finding a full size spare tire/wheel, havent hand mounted tires in awhile but only took 40 seconds to mount it up. 33 fits in the stock spot pretty well20210329_142731.jpg

Tailgate Tuesday. Is that a thing? Anyway, did some work on the tailgate this past weekend.

First, I installed a diy auto tailgate lock. After doing much research on what was out there already there were a couple of criteria that I wanted to follow. It needed to be reversible (so no drilling holes in the tailgate) and it needed to cost less than dealership price (which is fairly easy to do even with aftermarket locking systems). Luckily I already had most of the parts that I used and only needed to purchase the actuator.

    Here's what I used:
    Actuator
Galvanized Strong Tie (I already had these on hand from building a shed at our house)
    14 gauge wire
    Wire connectors/splice

There's several Youtube videos that you can look up to see how to wire the actuator to the passenger door lock, so I'm not going to go into details about that. What I didn't like about most of these diy videos is that they drilled a small hole into the plastic arm of the locking mechanism. I didn't like either of these as I could see this breaking over extended use. I also found that there are a couple aftermarket kits sold by individuals that are either on TW or banned from TW. Nothing wrong with them, but I didn't want to spend that much money on something that I could do myself. The two that I took inspiration from either used the bolts from the backup camera mount or the bolt that holds the tailgate handle. For simplicity, I chose the 10 mm bolt that holds the tailgate handle. As an FYI - this is how the OEM auto lock is installed.

    Here's some pictures:

I'm 95% happy with it, but need a little more fabrication on the arm coming from the actuator to allow it to fully unlock. Right now it locks/unlocks, but it doesn't allow the mechanism to rest at the full unlock position.

I also added the Tacoma tailgate insert letters. Bought from Amazon.

Not the tailgate, but I also added OEM mudflaps to help keep paint chips away. Thanks to @oostroma for taking the time to ship his unused mudflaps!

So help me out. Did you download music to that usb/thumb drive? I'm trying to figure out how to get my ITunes library, over to either my Samsung device, or into my truck to play. I've tried everything so far with no luck.

I copied my library to a mini thumb drive like in those pictures. All my music is on that drive and I swap it out between my different vehicles. Best thing ever made. Has always worked great in my 16 Taco.

Well that may be my ticket. Is it a special thumb drive or just a run-of-the mill one? Any particular software you used, or did you just save the MP4, or whatever files you had in the library? Wish I talked to you yesterday, I spent most of the evening trying to take my Itunes to my old Ipod (didnt work), then my android using an Itunes transfer ap (didnt work). Thanks again.

Has to be formatted FAT32, and I believe the only compatible formats are MP3 and WMA. Copy onto the thumb drive using File Explorer on a PC.

    The old fashioned way.
