    Oh man…
Stock height with 35’s, I dig that! Really want to do 35’s but I don’t want to lift it. I like keeping it as low as possible

I just replaced tires on a Taco I am bringing back from the dead... and went with Yokohama Geolandars.
I've had them on three previous vehicles and have never had a better tire.

So glad this thread is still alive and active!

I about 2 years ago purchased the TRD SEMA 4Runner wheels (17 inch, 7, +offset ones) and I am now looking to pull the trigger on new tires and skinny is the winny.

I own a 2016 OR with 2 inch Toytec Lift with TC UCAS.

I want to run Tall and Skinny 33's on my Gen 3, so looking at 255/80/R17.

I can't seem to ascertain, if I will experience severe rubbing or not perusing forums. It seems Its "Yes and No" when I snoop around (some don't preface if they are gen2 or gen3 so that may be part of it).

Do we know if rubbing would be an issue, given my set-up, with offset from rims, running those kind of tire sizes?

Quite a few things at this point..
Did you get a spare, and did it fit under the bed in its usual place?

I drive an 18 OR with stock suspension and the same wheels, I have 255/80R17 KM3's and had very minor rubbing on plastic only. It could have been solved with alignment but I just cut the plastic. You'll be fine.

My Falken Wildpeak, 235/85R16, I'm liking them more and more. Today I found the ideal air pressure (since installing my OME LIFT) on Asphalt. 32psi is the sweet spot for my trucks current (Leer Canopy) configuration.

Absolutely awesome! First I've seen anyone with skinny 35s at stock ride height.

You mentioned 7" wheel - I'm assuming this means you are using the oem 4runner trd pro wheels (+4 offset) and not the FN version (17x8 +0 offset)?

    How is UCA clearance?

How are the 255/85/16s at dispersing weight?

This highlighted negative causes me some concern, as I’m about 2.5” lifted and 6200#s front to back without a sway bar.

I typically encounter strong cross winds from desert highways and would like to know if anyone has experience with a higher center of gravity + added weight on the skins. Thanks so much...

Blew a tire out in the desert and need to get on a new set ASAP.

I think @DVexile runs a skinny all over the desert with no issues

I'm lifted the same amount, I'm on 255/85r16s, haven't had any weight distribution issues.

    & @dirtnsmores

Solid. Thank you. Looks like I’ll go ahead with some st maxx, same size. Can cut/heat gun if necessary but I doubt I’ll need to.

    This was fun... RAILROADED

You're on a 2 in lift right? i have an eibach pro kit which im going to run on the bottom notch (should be 2 in as well) and im stuck on tire size....the 255/75 looks good, are you close to rubbing at all?

Yes, it's a 2" lift (OME susp. kit), but the installer said it seemed like 2.5", but a) he didn't measure, and b) I think it will settle after a while.
No rubbing with the tires - so no cutting, or grinding anything...(which is nice).
With the new UCAs, one part of them is a bit less than an inch from the tire, but that seems fine - no issues.

Yep, and I have a Flip-Pac which makes me top heavy. Two inch lift or so. I do run the stock sway bar.

I don’t have any sort of analysis to back it up but my suspicion is that if you are making any sort of a maneuver in a lifted top heavy truck where the lateral traction difference between a narrow and wide tire could have come into play you’ve already rolled over well before either tire lost traction.

Get in a low slung sports car, sure you can probably take all the lateral force any tire could ever give you. Truck, not so much. These things flip in the famous “moose test” with nothing sliding on stock tires.

But disclaimer, well outside my limited knowledge of handling.

Thank you, yes they are the OEM 4Runner Pro wheel. I have plenty of clearance in the UCA with the SPC’s. I switched just to have more adjustability with my alignment. It helped to get the wheels where I wanted them in the wheel wells. Still more work to do when I have more time.

I currently have a 06 DCLB and have the eibach pro lift running a 265 70 16 and was wondering if I would be able to go 255 85 16 without any rubbing issues on upper control arms
