It's like a shared sickness - we just keep coming up with new ways to tweak these trucks...and spend money. My wife just rolled her eyes at me when I told her about the decals I'm getting for the trailer.

Sorry it's going to take so long for the covers!

That she is. I am truly blessed to have found the love of my life when we were both 19. Life is good, my friend!

No doubt about that. Did she call you Mr. President, when you were 19? ;)

If life wasn't good, you wouldn't be worried about chrome screws :D

We have an agreement - Lynn is always considered one rank higher than me. :D Even as an Army Colonel and then a college president, she outranked me.

At age 19, her grandmother commented to her after I'd brought Lynn back from a date: "Mark is such a nice boy. It's too bad he's so homely."

That's why I need to have a good looking truck!

In the same way, There is no "metric system". ISO, MKS, JIS, Lots of millimeters , but No "METRICS".

Complaints come mostly just lazy people that don't have a conversion app installed on their phone. ;-)

New Project: Rokform iPhone holder (Magnetic Swivel Dash Mount) $29, SKU: 336201 [NOT A PAID ENDORSEMENT]

I'll start out by saying I use ROKFORM for my Harley Street Glide Special - been using them for almost three years now. Love the Harley ROKFORM - and the case as well. Durable - made for people like me who *CONSTANTLY* drop shit left and right - so - needed a iPhone case that kept my phone safe - AND - was able to attach to my Harley (You can sort of see it on the right handgrip just under the mirror).
    2014_SGS.jpg

I've been looking at iPhone attachment devices for my Tacoma. Came across this little ROKFORM magnet holder. Was thinking - maybe it would work, maybe not. It's small, doesn't look annoying on my front dash. It's Gloss Black (like my truck) and it will WORK with my ROKFORM case. But - because its a magnet - wasn't sure how it would hold up on the road - and vibration when I was off-road. But - I bought it anyways. Figured, its $30 - so what do I have to lose, right? (except $30).

I also wanted to incorporate the Smittybilt Vehicle Clinometer because I think the one that they put on the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro is pretty useless - and the Smittybilt allows me to set the truck type and *COLOR*. It has a LOT of features that the Tacoma one JUST DOES NOT HAVE. Hence the project.

So - bought the ROKFORM Swivel Dash Mount on Amazon, got it next day, peeled off the backing for the tape and stuck it on (after cleaning the plastic of course).

Here it is - attached to the top of my air vent area.

The ROKFORM Rugged iPhone 12 Pro case has two magnets, one in the center, and one in that square rubber pad.
    ROKFORM_iPhone12_RuggedCase.jpg

Mounted with the Center Magnet in Horizontal mode running my Smittybilt Clinometer App.
    Rokform_01.jpg

Mounted with the Center Magnet in Vertical mode running my Smittybilt Clinometer App.
    Rokform_06.jpg

Mounted with the Lower Magnet in Vertical mode
    Rokform_16.jpg

Mounted with the Lower Magnet in upside down mode
(Not all apps work in upside down mode)
    Rokform_13.jpg

OK - so how does it behave in regular traffic abuse. Actually - great. With the center magnet, it never budged - stayed in the same position. The Smittybilt app worked great. Sound affects and everything. Love it.

The lower magnet worked great as well - but as you can see - if mounted high on the dash, it will block your line of sight. You can opt to hang the phone upside down - but not all apps work upside down, and it also depends where you attach the base as well.

Was just reading about this in another thread and figured I'd ask here. I've got a set of PRP seat covers in the mail and was wondering if anyone had put the plastic plate from the backside of the backseats on top of their seat covers instead of just slipping the cover over it. You'd have to remove the plastic, cut some little slits in the covers for the clips or whatever keeps the plastic in place, and then put it back on over the seat cover. Feel like it might be nice to keep the plastic exposed for hauling stuff so the back of the covers don't get scuffed up. Pics encouraged!

This afternoon I added a couple tie-down points to the bottom/front of the bed.
    20210330_172746.jpg
    I used these rings: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q2H38F6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_TDSXPMP284F2Z1W3K8D0
Had to drill out each mounting hole to get them to fit on the big bed bolts, not too terrible. It was more annoying to hammer the floating washer off each bed bolt so that I could get the ring mount tab under the bolt head.
    20210330_172734.jpg
It turned out fine in the end! Now I have a much more convenient and secure spot to strap the front of my kayak to.

I also got this cheapo throttle controller for $72. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YFRFWB4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_10YS7VPNV0W5YMWN9S8N
    20210330_173424.jpg
So far, so good. Does the same thing as the $300 ones... and if it craps out it's a free and easy Amazon return! It makes the throttle feel much more like my wife's car, so it makes going from one to the other easier. Plus it tricks your brain into thinking you're going faster, so it's worth it IMO. It should hold me over for a while until I decide to pull the trigger on an actual tune. :fingerscrossed:

    Work in progress

Thanks. I would rather be extra safe. Mind you, I am not doing full on "recovery," such as pulling people in extreme off-roading or overlanding conditions. I researched this pretty thoroughly because I find myself towing / pulling people who have slid off the road in a snow or ice storm from northern NY to northern Quebec (sometimes on the 401 in Ontario). The BPF I have is fine for the front but we are talking about pulling someone who slid off the road in a snowbank or something like that. It is at least rated and I used this Rhino kit with straps:

    https://www.rhinousainc.com/collect...ear-combo-30-tow-strap-shackle-hitch-receiver

If the person is in a ditch or a bit more off road I don't use the front but rather pull from the shackle hitch receiver. That has a higher rating and works just fine.

If I was doing major recovery (I would probably feel uncomfortable because I am not an expert) I would buy the ARB. That one is the only recovery that mounts to the frame from what I can tell. You found a crazy deal on that for sure. But for serious recovery the price is not bad given the quality and the rating. It may be the only real / serious recovery option out there from what I found.
