Proof off roads are better. Look at all the aftermarket stuff the sport owner had to do to make his truck off road worthy.

Get the Sport if you want one of those fancy manual access cabs.

I prefer to think of it as secure sunglasses storage.

OP, sounds to me like you have a plan on heavy aftermarket mods. The sport does not have a rear locker, the OR does. The sport has a smaller rear axle while the OR comes with the larger beefier rear axle. The OR has MTS/ATRAC, which I have seen in action and it works. The sport does not. They both cost the same, which is beyond me why they do as the OR is certainly the way more offroadworthy truck by a mile. I guess the sport has a better street tuned suspension and a skewp. BFD

Having said that if you are going to do heavy mods and new locker then you could save money by going to an SR5.

If you want an access cab you're stuck getting a sport, if you want a double cab your stuck getting an offroad. It makes the choice kinda easy in a way. I would've preferred an offroad but my requirements were a manual and an access cab.

The Sport MT also comes in DCSB if you were so inclined.

I drove the Sport Manual first, found one in Voodoo Blue which was my first choice color. It seemed to me that it’s highway ride was a bit too bouncy. The clutch had a long travel and I was banging my knee against the steering wheel. The shifting is very smooth, the throws are long but it is a truck. I did want a manual, but ended up buying an Offroad. In the manual you lose the functionality of the rear locker, as well as a terrain mode selector and crawl control. Watching people offroad in manuals looked more challenging, but not impossible. You just need to get to know how the truck will react with throttle inputs to get you over obstacles.

I have just over 1k miles, and have no regrets. This is my first ever truck, and Toyota. It is possible to be completely addicted to Taco’s.

In Texas, the Sport is $900ish cheaper than an Off Road. Here the base model Sport comes standard with the headlight package and technology package while the base model Off Road only comes standard with the headlight package. Guess the Gulf States decided to give the Sport the tech package for free to make up for the missing Crawl Control system. For my personal use (soft beach sand), Crawl Control is worthless. I prefer the stiffer on road Sport suspension over the soft Off Road suspension, and the Sport looks much nicer.

What do you mean lose Functionality of the rear locker? The A-TRAC replaces the Crawl Control in the MT.

It is the TRD OR Access cab with manual transmission that you have to go to Canada to get.

I do too, that blue looks great. The only thing that stopped me was people around where I live will think I’m a Chicago Cubs fan, and I don’t want any of that

I love it too. My original plan was to get an OR and get the Sport hood.
