Anyone over in the Croydon area that could help @ilubtimmyhos with a TW express pickup?

 

Dont need anything driven anywhere, just grabbed and held for a few days

 

Lynn and I are still working to clear out various items my father-in-law collected over the years. He was a physician by profession and a carpenter, plumber, electrician....on weekends and in retirement. He filled the stable and several other buildings with tools, power equipment, ...stuff. If he needed a screw, he bought a box of 100...in several sizes. We've cleared out a lot but still have some larger items..and a bunch of smaller ones. Of the larger items, there's a radial arm saw (with a bunch of blades), an air filtration system and several self propelled lawn mowers. I have not started the mowers and am sure they both need batteries and the Toro needs a charger. The second is a WHite.

Anyone here interested in any/all? The price is pretty low - you pay for your gas to get to our place and the items are free. You can also wander around the smaller items and see if there's anything you need/want. I just need to recoup the space. Here are a few pictures:

This would be a sunday am thing. I bought a local pickup item on ebay, a beast spring compressor, and the guy is saying sunday am is the only time he is free. I will be up in PA for work all next week so if it happens, I would pick it up from you next week. If you are willing, let me know.

No rush - it's been there for years. I'll just need help getting it down...but you are welcome to it. Of all the things, that's not in my way at all.

@HomerTaco - I also have an unopened box of filters for the filtration system. Let me know if you want it and I will hold it for you.




I also found this a few minutes ago. The box is opened but it doesn't look like it ever came out of the box. Everything is still in the plastic.

Are you saying the flint is stuck in the holder, or the flint wheel is locked up? Good call on keeping it original

 

So, Your question sent me to grab the lighter and check it out. The flint wheel was stuck....and now it is moving freely. I unscrewed the flint holder and there's no sign of any flint and I can't see any light through the hole so there may be an old piece jammed in there. I need to get some flints and see if I can get one in it. Thanks for making me look at it again.

This was my Dad at Parris Island in July 1946. He was high shooter in his platoon during qualification week. The picture and a press release was sent to the Easton Express where my grandmother worked as a proofreader. She got the original - I have it now - along with my dad's score book that you can see sticking out of his left breast pocket. I'm still looking for that Garand - Springfield Armory SN 2860035.

have you ever reached out to CMP? I believe they may hold records of every serial number that has made its way through their facility

 

I’ll know better next week.

 

At least 3 times now - but I'm about due again since I think they've received some additional Garands since I last inquired. I actually have two friends who are both retired Major Generals and commanded Army Material Command that has oversight of CMP and they checked for me, as well. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. I've posted all over various forums and look at the SN of every Garand I see at gun shows. You never know.
